Purpose
• The Sr. Marketing Manager will deliver quality programs that support high volume sales of Diageo brands for their market. This will be executed by the management of local, national and multi-brand programs, promotional agency management, with a primary focus on the Grocery Channel, while overseeing the On and Off General Market business via the management of two direct reports. Ensure the sales team is educated on consumer targets and brand strategy. Sr. Marketing Manager will conduct post program evaluation. Collaboration with all functional teams to ensure goals for market are being met. Key stakeholders include VP Sales, Marketing Dir, Marketing Mgrs, Chain Account Executives, Chain Account Merchandising Managers, Distributor trade development team, Market Directors, Finance Director, Customer Opps Team, Trade Marketing Team, National Account Team, Marketing and Brand Teams.
Decision Making
• Planning. Recommend how gaps in National marketing plans will be reconciled and solicit ideas to maximize program impact in the Grocery, and General Market business. Balance spend on each brand and type of spend (Value Added Packaging, Point-of-Sale, Coupons, Redemptions, Demos etc.). Provide feedback to the brand teams at time of concept review, adhering to Diageo Marketing Code and approved process.
• A&P allocation ensuring investments are consistent with brand strategy, cluster objectives and commercial needs. Decisions will be complicated by natural tension between delivering short-term results and building a long-term consumer franchise.
Management Responsibility
• Direct management of 2 Marketing Managers, (1 remote)
• Input on national programs: Provide cluster commercially grounded feedback to shape the quality and executability of programs. Ensure execution tools provided fulfill consumer's needs. Ensure program is executable. Ensure channel specific elements are executable. Solicit feedback of sales and distributor team through monthly, quarterly and half-year planning sessions, concept reviews etc.
Key Outputs/Deliverables
•Manage/ develop National brand, trade marketing and local overlay programs
Ensure A&P spend provides appropriate investment to deliver plan and achieve consumer goals for brands
• Manage Point-of -Sale tools that are relevant, applicable, and available in a timely fashion to the channel and increase effectiveness
Manage promotional agency to execute brand programming throughout the year. Coordinate the procurement needs, scheduling and sell in of over 6,000 promotions per year, in conjunction with the cluster, distributor and promotional agency. Manage any one off event needs. Attend training and promotional sessions.
Oversee management of all Trade Marketing initiatives.
Manage local and national programming and create proper selling tools for execution of programs and assist with training to distributor.
Assist in the management of meetings, brand visits, and hospitality in the region.
• Coordinate activity and communication with all Diageo Business Units to ensure cross collaboration during key selling seasons.
• Ensure measurement and tracking of critical business indicators and predictors of performance
• Manages and monitor budgets to ensure no overspend
Consistent review of Return on Investment and adjustments made accordingly
Experience
• College graduate, MBA preferred, 5 plus years relevant experience including:
• Marketing management experience with a major Beverage, CPG company and/or 3 tier Distribution experience
• Managing large budgets across many line items
• Proven track record in managing winning teams
• Proven ability to generate excellent results
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross functionally
• Change management
• Strong knowledge of the CA Retail channel: Grocery, On and Off Premise General Market
• Ability to manage multiple, large budgets across channels
• Strong people management skills
