We are currently recruiting for an experienced Software Development Manager in Rochester, NY.
Managing a team of Developers, Quality Assurance Specialists and/or Database Administrators. Developing their staff to meet the strategic resource needs of the Information Technology department. Participating in the interview and hiring process. Preparing and administering annual reviews and development plans, making promotion and salary recommendations. Responsible for personnel planning and the allocation of team members to meet Enterprise Development project needs. Identifying and mentoring future leaders / managers for company growth. Overseeing software development, testing and/or database administration of assigned products and applications. Coordinating the project activities and monitoring the progress of multiple Enterprise Development projects to meet business objectives. Acting as a focal point to facilitate inter-project communication within the department. Overseeing the leadership activities of assigned Project Leads to meet department business needs. Mentoring Project Leads and ensures Project Lead compliance with Enterprise Development standards and procedures. Participating with Project Leads to ensure that task definition, task estimates, duration, and project schedules are developed in order to meet objectives. Mitigating issues affecting project schedules. Providing input to annual reviews of the project leads and project team members. Building relationships with other IT departments and business units and mitigating conflict to facilitate inter-department communication and project progress in order to meet business objectives. Acting as a catalyst for change to improve applications or processes which benefit IT and/or the business unit. Demonstrating application knowledge and understanding functionality of applications outside their area of expertise to identify potential impacts and making recommendations to minimize the impacts. Responding to questions from other IT departments and business units and coordinating resolution of critical issues to provide support for production applications. Qualifications BA/BS in computer-related field, with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-3 years supervisory/management experience and/or project leader/management experience desired. Strong background in application development preferred. Special Skills Payroll/Tax knowledge Leadership experience across multiple concurrent projects and/or one large project Development Background desired Strong interpersonal skills Commitment to delivering high quality software releases on schedule Ensures that the development team is following a defined development process throughout the product lifecycle to achieve delivery dates. Ability to plan ahead, providing options due to a changing environment to cover new direction and/or road blocks Familiarity managing Software Development projects using the following technologies: Java, .NET, Adobe Flex, Oracle Familiarity with SOA/SaaS a plus Familiarity with the Agile Process a plus Skills: * MGT - Application Development Apply Below!
