The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Member Relations & Marketing Specialist with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) Purpose This position with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) is responsible for the execution of marketing and communications activities primarily for ASHRM membership, including new member communications & orientation and member retention tactics, but also activities aimed at nonmembers. Develops strategically informed marketing messages/collateral for ASHRM programs, products and services. Provides chapter development and support services. Supports the execution of paid marketing efforts directed at the membership, including advertising. Provides customer service support. Essential Functions * Responsible for development and execution of membership recruitment and retention functions, including new member communications, membership benefits communications, and outreach strategies to prospective members. * Works with other departmental staff to write and develop targeted/multiple marketing messages and collateral for ASHRM programs, products and services, with an emphasis on educational programs including the Annual Conference. * Helps to ensure membership data are appropriately captured and maintained in the membership database. * Executes integrated production and delivery of print and email-based communications, and coordinates with appropriate staff on web production of related material. * Serves as the staff lead and liaison to volunteer task forces focused on membership and chapter relations while executing new member engagement activities such as quarterly new member orientation webinars, the new member community in the ASHRM Exchange (a Web 2.0 community), and the first-time attendees' event at the Annual Conference. * Drafts organizational communications to chapter leaders regarding chapter-specific programs, news and events, ensuring consistent and integrated messaging. * Maintains chapter leadership rosters and updates chapter information on ASHRM website. * Supports sponsorship and advertising outreach efforts; maintains documentation and ensures fulfillment of web and print advertising (schedules/rates; ad copy organization; processes invoices, collections, and tracks revenue). Develops and manages delivery of weekly e-based Career Connections communications. Evaluates and fulfills mailing list purchase requests. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field * 3 – 5 years experience Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, preferably in an association environment * Strong skills in writing, accounting, and familiarity with databases required * Experience working with volunteer committees in an association environment is a plus * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, plus Subscriber Mail or similar email applications, desktop publishing software, and familiarity with HTML * Experience in graphic design is a plus * Strong background in healthcare industry desirable Benefits We offer an excellent total compensation package, which includes medical/dental coverage (PPO/HMO), life insurance, short and long-term disability plans, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, paid vacation/holidays/sick days, and more!
