Position Summary
The purpose of this home office, Charlotte, NC area based position is to lead the Category Management efforts and to manage a team of two Associate Category Managers supporting Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Winn Dixie, Piggly Wiggly as well as independents from the South Region and also provide support to Caribbean & Central America (CCA) Region. The Sr. Category Manager serves as the lead on both internal and external Category Management initiatives in the assigned area of the business, ensuring the development of effective, account-specific strategies that leverage key insights to drive Dannon business and maximize category profitability for our customer.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Leads the development of account-specific category management strategy and provides thought leadership in the area of Category Management. Work with the Sales Directors and CBM’s to ensure Category Management needs are addressed, identify opportunities to pursue, set priorities and establish a process for achieving these objectives
• Oversee the development of Retailer and CCA Distributor Partners' key presentations and present to designated accounts/Distrbutor partners with information to drive category profitability & Dannon business
- Utilize custom/syndicated research (from Dannon HQ)
- Respond to Ad hoc/Field based requests
- Consumer / Trade Promotion evaluations
- Consumer insights
- Category plans / reviews
- Champion corporate initiatives
• Identify and manage in-store research (retailer/category & Dannon)
• Merchandising best practices, POG efficiency, etc.
• Manage / train / supervise Associate Category Manager(s) in fact-based selling process, software, presentation templates, various adhoc analyses, etc.
• Share customer practices/learning’s with Dannon HQ (Sales Ops, Marketing, etc.) and CCA Region Distributor partners regarding Plan-o-grams, new items, merchandising/loyalty efforts, etc. Act as liaison between HQ Category Management team and field sales team
• Provide guidance and direction to internal/external partners in Category Management best practices (i.e. fact-based selling process, category learnings, corporate merchandising guidelines, etc.)

Qualifications
• 4 Years Sup Studies -- Bachelor of Science (BS) four year college degree
• 5-7 years progressive Sales and Category Management experience in CPG industry
• (preferable in the Grocery class of trade)
• 2 years people management experience
• Possesses strong communication skills and flexibility
• Sales presentation development/preparation expertise
• Strong expertise with various sales analytic software (e.g. IRI/Nielsen, Apollo/ProSpace, Spectra)
• Strong business acumen and understanding of the trade
• Expertise in various Sales software: IRI, Nielsen, Apollo/ProSpace, Spectra
• Experienced in Household Panel Data
• Proficient PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Fluency in Spanish Preferred
• Results oriented & empowerment, ability to get things done
• Strong leadership skills
• Openness, ability to challenge and find new ways of growing business
• Ability to develop and “sell” business strategies to Sr. Management of the Company
• Ability to manage and work on a cross functional team
• Strong strategic thinker with proven ability to build & share a vision
• Broad strategic analysis skills set complimented with a detail orientation
• Excellent Communicator
