We are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst that will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements for multiple large companies. Duties include production accounting, variance analysis, Balance Sheet reconciliations, Cash Flow, and various monthly, quarterly, and year-end schedules as needed. The position also encompasses maintaining and ensuring that the highest level of efficiency and appropriate internal controls are in place. The individual must be detailed oriented, pro-active, organized, focused, and possess strong analytical and technical skills. This person must be able to interact confidently with all staff and management levels. This position will serve as a back-up for the department Supervisor or Manager. The role is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities:
Preparing Journal Entries in Excel and posting in E1 - GL system. Preparing monthly financial statements for multiple large companies with more complex transactions as part of the monthly close. Prepare monthly variance analysis and Cash Flow forecast. Interact with the field finance directors through open communication and field closing visits.
Provide accounting and departmental procedural guidance to staffs and management (finance/accounting). Update departmental accounting policies and procedures to ensure that the internal controls & standardization are in place. Interact effectively with other departments and the field finance directors to foster a positive work environment at the highest level of efficiency. Take advantage of the system and other application resources available to the department (i.e., E1, excel, or other reporting applications). Provide suggestions for improvement.
Update and maintain monthly G/L account analysis. Preparing Balance Sheet account reconciliation, Bank reconciliation, analyze trends and costs incurred. Interact with other departments to ensure that all reconciling items are corrected in a timely manner.
Assign and enter all event production into E1 system, including setting up event codes. Prepare monthly production accrual entries, reclasses, and accrual reversals. Run monthly the Job Cost production accrual report and production analysis.
Prepare quarterly/annual reporting schedules for News Corp Reporting/Audit schedules/SOX 404
Special projects requested by departmental and executive management
Qualifications
Requirements
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting with a CPA preferred.
A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the accounting area is necessary.
Previous experience in media, cable advertising sales, traffic and the sports broadcasting environment is strongly preferred.
Position requires intermediate verbal and written communication skills
High mathematical and analytical skills required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
Strong PC skills, Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, under minimal supervision while effectively meeting tight deadlines. Ability to be pro-active in resolving financial issues.
