Modis is seeking a Sr. Project Manager for a 6 month contract. This position can sit in Freehold, NJ, Ashburn, VA or Colorado Springs, CO. If you have a strong background in managing infrastructure projects around servers and data centers, please see the job description below.
Responsibilities: Project Manage large, strategic infrastructure initiatives that reduce the number of applications, the number of data centers within the infrastructure and the number of servers within the data centers. Data analysis and planning up front to form project scope. Tactical planning to organize the work into tactical scope that can be executed and tracked. Daily tracking of progress against the plan. Issue management and resolution at a tactical and technical level to resolve major obstacles. Metric definition, tracking, and reporting to demonstrate on an executive level the progress of the initiative. On going direction of development, test, production, DBA, CM IT resources to execute objectives. Interface to DCPTS HW/SW fulfillment to ensure infrastructure is delivered correctly and on-time to support project initiatives. Work closely with Senior Project Management staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS: 1) General Unix/Windows familiarity 2) Conceptual knowledge of virtualization, High Availability , Load balancing , backup and DR 3) Strong Project Management skills organization and status skills 4) Experience leading large, strategic infrastructure efforts involving many stakeholders 5) Report generation and document preparation 6) Technical bachelors degree (e.g. Computer Science, MIS, etc.) with 7-10 years of IT experience 7) Intimacy with Microsoft Office toolset
DESIRED SKILLS: 1) Executive communication capabilities, both reporting and verbal 2) Strong consensus building skills 3) Refined strategic thinking that allows the end goal to stay the focus 4) Tactical savvy that allows each step to be moving towards the end goal
