Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for supporting senior staff with complex business development projects through identifying, comprehensively evaluating, and building business cases supporting the transactional pursuit of new business / growth opportunities. Projects often include broad market segment analyses to identify new sources of growth, leading to the licensing, collaboration or acquisition of products or companies in market areas entirely new to or those adjacent to Baxter's existing core business.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
•Responsible for performing commercial analysis and support project teams through all stages of analysis
•Assure the credibility of commercial analysis through solid surveillance of business information appropriate to the new business / growth opportunities
•Contribute in a support role of a large, complex project
•Support project sponsors with securing internal support for projects, and lead designed aspects of analysis
•Conduct in-depth primary and secondary market research to support the commercial assessment. (e.g. Interviewing subject matter experts)
•Responsible for translating project team's analytical findings into a sound business case that can be presented to senior management for investment consideration
•Develop financial valuation models and/or guide financial analysts with developing appropriate valuation models
•Build bottoms-up patient models to forecast sales and margins taking into account all appropriate factors with the disease, clinical standards of care, anticipated changes in market conditions, competitive product positioning & the target product's value proposition to payers, patients & healthcare providers
•Responsible for following developments in target diseases and therapeutic areas to (a) identify leads for further evaluation, and (b) determine implications to ongoing projects
•Secure support from colleagues throughout the global business development community, franchises and relevant functional areas to supplement necessary analyses & address key uncertainties
•Collaborate & support team members leading other Corporate Development projects to enable more investment opportunities are brought forward at appropriate times
•Demonstrate the results of a high performance team
•Employs an appropriate level of scenario analysis and use of effective analytical approaches to fully validate project assumptions, models, strategic conclusions & overall benefit / risk profile
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, business or science/technology required and a Master's in finance, marketing or strategy preferred.
•Requires six or more years of business experience and four or more years experience in evaluating and structuring transactions
•Commerical experience strongly preferred
