Description
The Systems Engineer will have strategic and operational responsibility for all systems engineering program areas. The position will be a part of the senior management team that drives the overall strategyfor systems engineering initiatives of the Programs Division of the company. The Systems Engineer will initially develop a deep knowledge of each project, program operation, and business plan, and will focus on the following three areas: systems engineering program development, implementation, leadership and management; external relationships, and knowledge management.
Reporting Relationship: Technical Director Vice President, Programs
Responsibilities: Systems Engineering: · Develop a systems engineering strategic plan and enhance, flesh out, and implement organizational vision as established in that plan. · Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence. · Demonstrate consistent quality of administration and communications; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the program goals. ·Develop systems and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality project management, products and services. · Hone the metrics and measurements that will quantify programs’ performance against goals and implement an internal organizational system for obtaining and reporting those metrics and measurements. ·Review monthly reports and address negative variances.
Leadership & Management: · Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members, empowering them toelevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance. · Provide leadership in development of inter-team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture and supporting staff during organizational growth. · Set output targets for program initiatives and manage collective and individual performancetowards these targets, including improving programs and services to increase profits. · Provide clear, accurate data to senior management team demonstrating programs performanceagainst goals. · Envision and develop direction, goals, and priorities for programs overall.
External Relationships: · Expand revenue generating to support existing programs and the growth of LogiCore; cultivate existing relationships and develop new customer relationships. · Manage relationships with partner organizations.
Knowledge Management: · Develop the necessary systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated by the systems engineering program. · Develop dissemination system to share organizational learning. · Ensure that key project outcomes and/or policy are evaluated and leveraged for maximum organizational impact. · Work collaboratively with the senior management team to integrate cross program activities andfunctions. · Develop the necessary systems, processes and tools in order tobetter support the facilitation, collection and sharing of knowledge.
Administration: ·Assist with the professional development of the program staff. · Work with the senior management team to plan and organize seniormanagement team meetings and retreats. · Represent LogiCore at meetings and conferences. ·Work with the Vice President to plan staffing patterns and address staffing needs.
Finance: Work with the Vice President and other programs staff tocoordinate the planning, programming, budgeting and execution of funds for systems engineering initiatives.
Qualifications The Systems Engineer will be thoroughly committed to LogiCore’s strategy and mission. All candidates should have demonstrated leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience and strong demonstrated success managing customer relationships.
Other qualifications include: · Advanced degree, with at least 10 years of systems engineering experience in the Defense Industry. · Unwavering commitment to quality programs and excellence in organizational and project management with the ability to achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget. · Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. · Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for LogiCore’s mission and a commitment to working collaboratively with a management team of senior professionals.
Program Leadership and Management: This individual will have taken a hands-on approach inleading a variety of initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading a performance-based and outcome-based program and staff. S/he will have developed and implementedstrategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth.
Team Building and Development: The successful candidate will have recruited, managed, anddeveloped a strong team of engineering, program/project management and development professionals. This individual will serve as a “player/coach” to motivate and mentor his/her team.
Exceptional Communication and Influencing Skills: As a voice/advocate for LogiCore, the Systems Engineer will have strong written and verbal communication skills. S/he will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations, providing exposure for program impact in a variety of professional journals and other media outlets. Ideally, this person will have served as an effective spokesperson. Solid judgment and apparent leadership skills.
