Position Description and Responsibilities
TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR- Calgary, AB
The Technology Director is the visionary leader who guides Critical Mass? technical evolution, growth and is responsible for the development and delivery of all technical aspects of assigned clients. You?re our clients? technical partner and good friend, and an internal resource who keeps tabs on development trends and breakthroughs. You?ll oversee all technical aspects of project work, and work closely with other disciplines at Critical Mass to come up with the best possible solutions. As part of the leadership team, you?ll also consult on new business development, research and requirement gathering.
Responsibilities:
? Lead the development team in implementing project designs, standards and processes
? Consult on new business development, research and requirement gathering.
? Consult on enterprise technologies, in the web site solution space, eg: CMS, search, application servers, etc ?
? Develop and document high-level technical designs
? Assist in development and maintenance of technical standards for the Technology department
? Provide advanced knowledge of currently implemented technologies and research new and emerging technologies for Critical Mass
? Support Lead Developers in developing strong relationships with team members within the department as well as company wide
? Ensure all Technology department processes are understood and implemented (when applicable) company wide
? Participate in and lead evaluations and performance reviews of Technology department team members
? Act as in-house expert on various technologies and assist others in learning these technologies
Required Skills
? 6+ years experience delivering web solutions
? 5+ years experience with Java, J2EE and ASP; XML, XSL, XSLT and DTD
? 3+ years of experience as a Technical lead on large web based projects
? Experience with Cross Browser, Cross Platform issues, DOM and W3C Web Standards
? Strong knowledge of standards including breadth of CSS, HTML, Javascript, and JCP/JSR progress
? Familiar with Project Lifecycle Management tools
? Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment that include graphic designers, business analysts, business and marketing strategists, and account managers
