Telecommunications Modeling Network Engineer, Mid
Title: Telecommunications Modeling Network Engineer, Mid Location: Virginia-Herndon Key Role: Capture and analyze network application transactions in OPNET ACE or similar tools. Analyze and evaluate the performance of networks composed of networking technologies, including IP, MPLS, ATM, and Frame Relay. Gather and interpret client network data for input into networking models via parsing server log files, .csv files, or Wireshark. Assess modeling results and network performance metrics to assist with evaluating proposed network upgrades. Contribute to methodology development to solve complex analytic problems and document and present analytical results and findings to clients. Basic Qualifications: -3 years of experience with constructing and analyzing network models and transactions using OPNET -Knowledge of telecommunications, data networking protocols, and technologies, including IP, ATM, or MPLS -Experience with presenting, briefing, or communicating analytical research material -Experience with using network data capture tools or utilities, including Wireshark, TCPDump, or network data sniffers -Ability to work effectively with staff of various technical competency levels -TS/SCI clearance -BS degree
Additional Qualifications: -Experience with past employment in the engineering or network planning groups of a telecommunications service provider or equipment manufacturer, including Lucent, Cisco, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Global Crossing, Level 3, Qwest, Savvis, Cogent Communications, or XO Communications a plus -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills -BS degree in CS, EE, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other related telecommunications field preferred; MA or MS degree a plus -CCNA or CCNP Certification a plus
Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
