    POSITION DETAILS

    The CUNY School of Medicine at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CUNY School of Medicine also offers a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented individuals from social, ethnic and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care and reducing health disparities.     The Advising & Student Life Coordinator will report directly to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the CUNY School of Medicine. Under direction, with latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, this position will perform administrative work following relevant departmental, College and University procedures:

    • Provide key administrative and programmatic support to advising functions within the Office of Student Affairs, organizing, implementing and developing programs for students.

    • Working with internal and external partners, support, create, and facilitate the development of student leadership opportunities and activities.

    • Working with other departments within CUNY School of Medicine, compile documents, materials, and records to support the development of students' residency applications.

    • Coordinate events led by the Office of Student Affairs and Career Advisors, facilitating relationships between student groups, external partners/programs/physicians and the school.

    • Create and manage project timelines for various Student Affairs initiatives, leading the development of communication and outreach to various student groups, faculty and staff, and external partners for said initiatives.

    • Lead implementation of CUNY Med internal scholarships, organizing selection committees, producing reports, and assisting with candidate selection.

    • Gather stakeholder feedback and data to make programmatic recommendations for the Office of Student Affairs.

    • Work with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and other administrators to support ongoing projects; monitor and perform necessary follow-up to meet project deadlines in collaboration with other Student Affairs staff

    • Participate in and provide administrative support for special initiatives asassigned.

    • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree required.

    • Assists student organizations/clubs in planning, implementing events and programs, and managing expenditures

    • Coordinates and helps present informational and educational programs, such as student leadership training and orientation

    • May assume responsibility for one or more specific student programs

    • Performs related duties as assigned.
