The assistant director collaboratively provides educational and administrative leadership for the residential life program, and is directly responsible for residential education, DEI and community development, administrative processes, and supervision of the professional and student staff.? Duties include goal setting and implementation at various levels, ensuring effective collaboration with EMSA colleagues and Capstone Management Partners, and University stakeholders; providing leadership to professional staff and student leaders in their efforts to foster community development, intercultural competency development, academic success and personal growth. Manages the operation of student housing at UW Bothell and collaborates in the development and direction of the Residential Life Program.
Residential Life houses 360 students but will grow to over 1000 students in Fall of 2024. This position oversees the day-to-day management of the student housing program for the university in close connection with Capstone Management Partners. This position requires a knowledge of student development and applied environmental theory within this complex and quickly evolving environment; requires collaboration across the University and with private partners to achieve desired outcomes while accommodating diverse interests; and manages health and safety issues and crises
RESPONSIBILITIES: Residential Education
Oversee the implementation of the curricular approach in Residential Life in connection with the campus student engagement model to focus on learning, connection and development of the student
Provide leadership in the development of diverse and inclusive communities that foster academic success and personal growth
Provide leadership in reviewing and developing policies and processes
Participate in assessment, planning and evaluation of short and long-range goals and objectives for Residential Life programs
Work closely and collaboratively with larger student engagement team in the development of student leadership programs and initiatives
Manage the development and implementation of student leader positions in residential in regards to recruitment, selection and onboarding processes
Participate in planning process for development of new residential life programs
Plan, implement, and assess curricular goals and initiatives
Facilitates and teaches the Res Life Student Leader course in spring quarter
Operations * Oversee the organization of area/building team meetings consisting of representatives from Residential Food Services, Desk Services, and Facilities Operations
Establish goals and objectives, collaborating with student engagement, Capstone Management Partners and Aramark to ensure delivery of services in student housing
Manage residence halls, desk services and mail to ensure that they meet established goals and objectives
Liaison with Capstone Management and Aramark as well as campus partners to provide seamless delivery of services to residents, from assignment of rooms to checkout at the end of the year
Develop budgets, monitoring and tracking implementation and reporting on expenditures
Review and approving expenditures and pro card purchases
Provide written reports and documents
Supervision
Recruit, hire, onboard and supervise three professional live-in staff members who serve in the Resident Director on-call rotation
Recruit, hire, onboard and supervise 8-10 student staff to staff the front desk and provide mail and package service.
Crisis Management and Response
Division-wide Roles
Serve on Departmental and University committees as designated
Represent Residential Life at various collaboration settings
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field and at least three years' experience working in a college setting and a housing program.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position works a regular Monday through Friday schedule; however, it also requires significant evening and weekend commitments throughout the year and remains on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
