    Purpose

    The Market Access Insights (MAI) organization within MABI plays an instrumental role in shaping market access strategies for all of AbbVie's domestic brands. As a member of this team, you will help plan and execute primary/ secondary market research to identify payer opportunities and threats, influence the development of market access strategies and tactics, enable organizational learning, and ensure alignment of insights with the broader commercial goals of each brand. The role requires foundational market research training and experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry. The role provides insights that directly impact patient and physician access to AbbVie brands through its influence on the development of pricing, contracting and other access strategies.

    Responsibilities

    Execute primary and secondary market research activities to provide insights that influence a brand's market access strategy through fact-based analysis, customer insights and business knowledge. Assist in the development with U.S. Market Access commercial leaders, innovative Pricing and Contracting strategies to achieve optimal payer formulary access for assigned brands. Deliver customer insights through market research, competitive simulation, and customer/environmental modeling to understand complex economic and clinical dynamics that drive payer access and shape brand demand. Demonstrate foundational understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape environment and key AbbVie therapeutic areas to identify and address opportunities and threats. Build collaborative relationships with internal U.S. Market Access Sales and Marketing stakeholders. Align insights to Brand insight partners, that when integrated with HCP and Consumer insights, positively impacts brand decision making.

    Key areas of functional scope include

    • Executing research to inform GPO, IDN, Specialty Pharmacy, Health Plan and PBM go-to-market strategies across payer channels and conveying research narratives that describe the market environment influencing stakeholder negotiations.

    • Delivering brand specific market access insights and response to specific market access issues/ trends. Areas of depth include gross/net pricing, contracting strategy, value proposition development, implications of competitive launches on access, investigative analytics related to market events and competitive actions, strategies for payer formulary coverage and reimbursement, and identifying value drivers that guide clinical data development and value positioning.

    • Demonstrating a foundational understanding of both primary/ secondary research methodologies and the ability to synthesize insights into actionable narratives. Under guidance, is proficient at supplier and stakeholder management, and executing custom research programs to deliver compelling learnings.

    • Responsible for effective communication of market access research insights to leadership.

    • Develop and execute ad-hoc business analysis projects focuses on identification of key business drivers or trends that impact a sales region's profit or loss.

    • Provide strategic insight into the development of unit and regional analyses for the regional managers to convey results and recommendations to the sales management group.

    • Execute and lead moderately to highly complex quantitative projects and uncover nuances through the analysis that provide insights not otherwise available through the data.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    • 3+ years of professional experience.

    • 2+ years of related industry experience in market research.

    • Prior healthcare/pharmaceutical experience, preferred.

    • Strong story telling skills; ability to distill complex information synthesized into concise and impactful messages and communications.
