    Job Summary:

    The subject role is responsible for supporting non-financial risk VPs and the Regional CRO in the implementation, execution, and coordination of a series of non-financial risk, committee and policy governance related activities, projects and ad hoc tasks. The role will leverage the incumbent's knowledge in institutional banking risk management to support the Bank's Second Line of Defense review and challenge functions.

    Key Accountabilities:

    The AVP, Non-financial Risk Management is part of the Risk Management Department within MUFG Bank Canada's the Second Line of Defense (SLOD). The role is primarily (approximately 80%) responsible for supporting the non-financial risk management Vice Presidents with a series of risk management tasks such as those related to operational risk, third party risk, information risk, business continuity risk and enterprise risk, as well as assisting the Regional CRO (approximately 20%) with a number of coordination and reporting activities.

    Regulatory Initiatives

    • Support the implementation of new or revised regulatory guidelines and requirements through gap analysis.

    • Keep abreast of the changing regulatory landscape and adopt fit for purpose practices to ensure ongoing compliance.

    Risk Framework

    • Contribute to the revisions and updates to non-financial risk governance documents such as policies and procedures.

    • Socialize changes to non-financial risk governance documents with the First Line of Defense (FLOD) stakeholders.

    • Promote non-financial risk requirements across the bank to ensure awareness and adherence.

    Risk Measurement, Monitoring and Control:

    • Guide and coach the First Line of Defense (FLOD) on non-financial risk management requirements.

    • Review deliverables from the FLOD to ensure they are completed in accordance with relevant non-financial risk management policies, procedures, guidelines, etc.

    Risk Reporting and Projects

    • Draft commentaries for governance forums such as committees to provide an overview of analysis of delegated non-financial risk activities and risk assessment results.

    • Monitor and track progress of one-off or periodic projects/assignments as assigned by non-financial risk management VPs to ensure they are completed on time by liaising with relevant stakeholders and collating results.

    Regional CRO Support Activities

    • Act as a liaison for the CRO in his responsibilities as Regional CRO for Canada and LatAm, such as coordinating the timely completion and submission of Risk Policies and Risk Appetite Statements.

    • Assist the CRO in ensuring Risk Committee reporting from each entity is consistent for Americas Governance teams.

    • Providing timely and accurate risk information, reporting and responses to internal and external audience as required.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Understanding of institutional banking structure, operations and related risks. Knowledge of Canadian and international banking regulations.

    Experience and Abilities:

    • 3+ years of Risk Management related experience (from any of the 3 Lines of Defense) in the banking industry, ideally in non-financial risk disciplines.

    • Ability to follow instructions as well as making sound judgments and keeping managers informed when operating independently.

    • Effective communication, time management, and relationship building skills, including a high degree of emotional intelligence as this role will be interacting with a large number of internal stakeholders across the bank at various levels.

    Education and Training:

    • University/College degree in risk management or banking related fields such as finance, or equivalent experience of 3+ years.

    Working Conditions:

    • Minimum two days in the office per week.
