    The Western States Business Development Director, Corporate Relations delivers on the goal of forging the highest level of impact partnerships. Responsibilities include identifying, driving and securing new business relationships to advance our lifesaving mission. Our Corporate Relations team is responsible for a fiscal year revenue goal of $16.3 million.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Manages a pipeline of 30+ opportunities at any given time that represent the highest priority opportunities for each market assigned. Seeks out and builds organizational relationships on an ongoing basis. Casts vision for 2-3 years to ensure a robust pipeline.

    • Embraces personal and joint accountability to achieve organizational goals. Fosters cross functional strategies, collaborations and executions to be successful and fully aligned with overall goals and objectives.

    • Leads Big Opportunity strategy meetings (2-3 per year) in assigned markets. Initiative cross-functional collaboration with National/Regional Consulting Teams, Region Leadership, Mission Advancement and Division Leadership to ensure effective meeting outcomes.

    • Leads an amplification revenue strategy to drive substantial growth for Western States that aligns with and leverages market trends and organizational priorities. Influences internal buy-in and ownership and empowers others through equipping them to maximize opportunities. Directly executes and delivers results in partnership with regional leadership and staff partners.

    • Develops and executes training opportunities as needed by market to ensure growth is achieved. Provides individualized coaching and mentorship of internal colleagues in an effort to develop and help grow those individuals (in partnership with supervisor) to successful strategic relationship development

    • Consistently delivers excellence in the sales process including ideation/strategy, development of concept brief/proposal/contract, budget development, negotiation and transition to account management.

    • Demonstrates expert working knowledge of organizational legal and finance protocols to ensure all opportunities support risk management protocols.

    • Contributes substantially to the Western States achieving assigned surplus targets by applying specific strategies to garner the needed wins.

    • Consults on sponsorship pricing and benefits to ensure equitability. Reviews and approves opportunities in internal system.


    • Models professionalism, initiative, persistence and work ethic to drive results and buy in internally and externally.

    • Exemplifies behaviors of being respectful, inclusive, partner-focused, creative, and courageous

    • Ability to lead and initiate conversations with current and potential volunteers to drive results, negotiate, uncover opportunities.

    • Ability to prepare communications like emails, talking points, meeting flow to maximize opportunities.

    • Takes personal ownership of continuous personal/professional development. Always be a student of the AHA and student of our craft.

    • Ability to travel 30-40% of time with compliance to AHA travel policy and department budget

    Professional track record that includes five years or more experience in:

    • Corporate account management, sales, high level revenue generation or marketing

    • Highly effective presentation, communication and influencing skills

    • Collaborating in a highly matrixed environment with the ability to listen and influence achievement of shared goals

    • Demonstrated resourcefulness with ability to source internal and external subject matter expertise as needed

    • Achieving goals through strong internal and external partner engagement

    • Managing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment with excellent follow-through
