    A Day in the Life

    The Category Manager, Contract Manufacturing is a key member of the Contract Manufacturing Sourcing organization. You must be an inspiring leader, experienced in working with high performance teams, and in fast paced environment. You will provide leadership for the identification, selection and implementation of strategies that are in line with the organizations strategic business objectives. This role will be responsible for managing 3rd party contract manufacturer's for both new product development and existing legacy products.

    The Category Manager, Contract Manufacturing will translate strategic ideas and initiatives into cost competitive solutions. The ideal candidate will lead the vetting and selection process to ensure the Company maintains the best in class 3rd party contract suppliers. This position will also require working closely with corporate center-led sourcing to identify strategies that create alliance with other key suppliers within the Company. This position will be instrumental in developing contracts and leading negotiations on quality, cost and delivery of finished product or sub-assemblies. This position will support metrics, tools, and processes to optimize performance of 3rd party contract manufacturers. Will provide leadership and direction to cross-functional team including Engineering, OpEx and Quality team members to prioritize and drive project implementations. Develop cost savings profile for programs being implemented and continually monitor for effectiveness.

    Responsibilities:

    CONTRACT MANUFACTURER STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

    •Own and drive the Contract Manufacturing supplier strategy and relationship management for the selected category within Restorative Therapies Group.

    •Build alignment for organizational and behavioral changes in support of key Contract Manufacturing initiatives.

    •Investigate markets, competitors, emerging trends and evaluate contract Manufactures capabilities and sustainability to produce medical products for Medtronic.

    •Evaluate 3rd party contract manufacturer's capabilities and establish sources for new technologies in new markets as business requirements dictate.

    •Lead Contract Manufacturer competitive bid evaluations.

    •Develop and interprets analyses and formats strategies for complex situations.

    PROJECT PROCESS IMPROVEMENT CONTRACT MANUFACTURING PROCUREMENT

    •Ability to collaborate with CM partners to drive improvement to cost, quality and delivery performance. Build a continuous improvement environment between Medtronic and contract manufacturing partners through value engineering initiatives, VAVE OPEX initiatives.

    •Evaluate solutions to any supply chain strategic issues, optimize the supply chain and reduce total cost.

    •Accountable for development and consolidation of key sourcing metrics, including sole source reduction, supplier segmentation, CM consolidation, LCC expansion, contract implementation, PPV and delta P deflation.

    FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

    •Analyze supplier cost structure by understanding the cost elements in supplier prices.

    •Utilize the concepts and principles of financial analysis to develop/influence/understand and present sound business cases.

    LEADERSHIP

    •Ability to influence across the organization (Operations, QA, and leadership) and interface with senior management as required.

    •Lead sourcing presentations for executive review. Accountable for annual and quarterly Sourcing Operations review for executive steering committee.

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors degree required

    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

    Nice to Have

    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Management or related major.

    • Master's in Business Administration (MBA)

    • Certification from the Institute of Supply Management (C.P.M., C.P.S.M.) preferred.

    • Knowledge of Lean Concepts, Manufacturing, Process Improvement and Facilitation skills.

    • Six Sigma Green Belt

    • LEAN certification
