    Job Summary

    The Director of Catering leads, manages, and coordinates catering sales efforts while assisting in execute items related to the entire operation of the conference. The Director of Catering will also work with Director of Sales and Marketing in setting the annual budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in directing the hotel in the development, implementation and achievement of their annual business and market plan objectives.

    • Provide leadership, guidance and assistance relating to the execution of marketing and catering sales functions, policies and standards.

    • Actively participate in the sales process via customer meetings, entertainment and attendance at customer and other relevant industry events.

    • Direct the solicitation efforts of the catering sales staff through effective oral and written communication.

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to increase the property's market share.

    • Directs the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include the annual and monthly Forecast, Lead Management System, and Booking Reports.

    • Achieve personal individual revenue goals through solicitation, prospecting, meeting with customers, as well as, the negotiating and contracting processes.

    • Work in tandem with Director of Sales & Marketing on the internal (University of Texas at Austin) client relationship including meeting, reporting and relationship building on behalf of the property.

    • Oversee the management, training and career development of catering sales staff.

    • Responsible for recruiting and identifying candidates for sales managerial positions.

    • Attend weekly departmental meetings and other scheduled meetings to support business operations.

    • Conduct site inspections with potential customers, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other property facilities.

    • Basic Property product knowledge, i.e., staffing, operations, safety, security, structural, terminology, fire, police and health codes, hotel policies, city ordinances.

    • Basic knowledge of various types of set up styles used in the meeting rooms

    • Basic knowledge of audio visual equipment, telecom equipment, lighting and room temperature control

    • Extensive knowledge of market and related meeting industry.

    • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts

    • Quantitative processing of data via office machine equipment, mathematical computations and analytical skills necessary to accurately determine and communicate financial, forecasting and space utilization calculations.

    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence and similar written materials.

    • Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.

    • Assimilate into The AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center, the Family PLATINUM SERVICE culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of PLATINUM SERVICE. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Minimum of four years of college level courses with an emphasis on business.

    • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications preferred.

    • Requires a minimum of 6 years' experience in conference center or hotel catering sales or food and beverage operation.

    • Proficient with MS Office products and Delphi.
