    COLLECTIONS MANAGER

    SUMMARY

    To support the company's objectives as Collections Manager, you will drive strategic initiatives to minimize delinquency and mitigate losses, while nurturing a dynamic team through hiring, training, and motivation, thereby maximizing business opportunities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Encourage team members to meet productivity and collection goals on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

    • Ensure and maintain compliance with applicable legal requirements.

    • Assess departmental and company metrics to evaluate team performance and develop collection calling strategies for ongoing improvement.

    • Lead daily and weekly training sessions with team members, conduct phone monitoring, and engage in side-by-side floor observations.

    • Assess employee performance, formulate and present performance plans and appraisals in a constructive and efficient manner.

    • Demonstrate informed decision-making aligned with company policies and relevant legal regulations, while ensuring all policies and procedures are current and applicable.

    • Oversee staff time management, handle disciplinary matters, and create schedules to optimize productivity and balance workload with employee well-being.

    • Manage escalated phone calls, disputes, and uphold high standards of professional telephone etiquette.

    • Monitor all stages of the repossession process, including pricing, unit sales, and tracking delinquent Bankrupt accounts, cases, dispositions, and arrangements.

    • Determines criteria for outsourcing accounts to external sources for collection or legal action, ensuring they receive necessary documentation to commence proceedings.

    • Coordinates the activities of collectors and/or attorneys, ensuring files accurately reflect their actions.

    • Analyzes monthly delinquent reports to assess the status of the credit union's accounts as reported by the computer.

    • Daily tasks include conducting team briefings, calculating break figures, distributing reports, updating production metrics, engaging with staff, and reviewing collection accounts.

    • Weekly tasks involve preparing summary reports for repossessions, bankruptcies, and legal accounts, alongside monitoring negative share accounts to ensure they are actively managed.

    • Monthly responsibilities include processing current month charge offs, finalizing charge offs, and reviewing potential charge off accounts.

    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in business from four year college/university preferred.

    • Minimum of 3 years of leadership and/or supervisory experience is required; collections preferred.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel (Advanced).

    • Comprehensive understanding of compliance standards and relevant legal regulations.

    • Experience with consumer lending preferred.

    • Strong planning, time management, organizational, leadership, negotiation, strategy execution, team direction, training, and communication skills.

    • Competitive team player adept at thriving in rapidly changing environments.
