We're searching for our next Communications Manager who has an understanding of National Security and terrorism prevention . This role requires a strategic communications and program management background in the public sector and will focus on managing/implementing communication strategies to implement the National Policy for Countering Improvised Explosive Devices and enhance national security by building public and private capabilities to deter, prevent, and respond to bombing incidents.

    Strong candidates will have experience supporting federal clients with planning and successfully executing public facing communications activities, effectively managing team members, taskings and high-quality deliverables, and demonstrated capabilities writing communications materials for both internal and external audiences. Experience supporting government communications and program operations is highly preferred.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead a communications team supporting a national security program focusing on implementing the National Policy for Countering Improvised Explosive Devices and enhancing national security by building public and private capabilities to deter, prevent, and respond to bombing incidents.

    • Provide counsel to team members with expertise in strategic communications.

    • Coordinate cross-agency material approvals and distributions.

    • Provide insightful and strategic recommendations to clients related to complex, high-profile topics related to national security.

    • Delegate and oversee writing assignments that include technical language and requirements.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to create strategic communications plans (30-, 60- and 90-days) that align with the priorities of leadership and allow for tracking of ongoing activities, products, and messaging.

    • Support the development of marketing and communications strategies and plans for key programs and initiatives.

    • Develop outreach materials, including slick sheets, graphics, presentation materials, webinars, talking points, and external affairs guidance, for domestic and international audiences.

    • Track stakeholder engagement information and oversee and facilitate actioning of marketing and outreach opportunities with partner organizations.

    Qualifications:

    • BA or BS degree

    • Minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in:

    • Managing projects as a consultant to the federal government or as a federal employee.

    • Leading implementation of strategic communications activities.

    • Assisting in the research, planning, and development of public facing engagements and activities that include government, NGO, academic and/or corporate partners.

    • Working collaboratively with clients, contractors for other firms, and/or project team members.

    • Ability to obtain a public trust security clearance or higher.

    • Knowledge of defense and national security policies and principles.

    • Knowledge of integrated communications, client relations, and public relations.

    Preferred Skills and experience:

    • Knowledge of experience supporting National Policy for Countering Improvised Explosive Devices or any other terrorism related program.

    • Experience supporting DOD or DHS with a communications program.

    • Excellent communication skills, especially written.

    • Strong project management, leadership and presentation skills.

    • Strong operational planning, research and organizational abilities.

    • Consultancy, corporate or government agency experience preferred.

    • Self-starter, with ability to independently manage and delegate tasks and handle multiple priorities.

    • Experience mentoring and/or supervising communications specialists.

    Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

    $96,367.00 - $163,825.00
