Controller

Robert Half seeks a Controller to become a part of a successful company and take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. Based in the Bensenville, Illinois area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. To succeed in this role, you will need to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Key responsibilities

• Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

• Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

• Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

• Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

• Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations

• Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

• Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

• Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

• Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

• Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities Requirements - Vow to meet business deadlines

• Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

• Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

• Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

• High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

• Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

• Solid understanding of Sage Software

• Expertise in Month-end Close Activities

• Proficiency in consolidations

• Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
