    A small local Credit Union is local is hiring for a Controller! This community-oriented financial institution dedicated to serving the needs of our members. As a small credit union, we prioritize personalized service and building strong relationships with our members. We are currently seeking a Controller with experience in credit union accounting and banking to join our team.

    OVERVIEW

    The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, asset liability management, credit investing, regulatory compliance, and project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit union accounting, financial statement preparation, and experience in IT oversight and contract management. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and manages a small team of accounting professionals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Asset Liability Management (ALM): Monitor and manage the credit union's asset and liability mix to ensure optimal performance in response to market interest rate changes. Analyze how loans and deposits react to interest rate fluctuations and implement strategies to mitigate risks.

    Credit Union Investing: Oversee the credit union's investment portfolio and develop investment strategies to maximize returns while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

    5300 Call Report: Prepare and submit the quarterly 5300 Call Report to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.

    Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management.

    IT Oversight: Oversee outsourced IT services and ensure alignment with the credit union's strategic goals. Collaborate with external vendors to optimize IT systems and infrastructure.

    Contract Management: Manage contracts with vendors and service providers. Negotiate terms and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.

    Project Management: Lead projects related to the implementation of new products or services. Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

    Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about regulatory changes affecting the credit union industry. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including those related to financial reporting and data security.

    Staff Management: Supervise a small team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support as needed. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.

    SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $95,000

    • 6+ months of employment: 120 hours accrued per year of PTO for full-time employees

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required. CPA designation preferred but not required.

    Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit union accounting or banking, with a strong understanding of asset liability management.

    Experience with financial statement preparation and regulatory reporting, including the 5300 Call Report.

    Knowledge of credit union investing principles and practices.

    Familiarity with IT systems and contract management.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Project management experience preferred.

    Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Supervisory experience highly preferred.
