  • JOB SUMMARY

    The Clinical Laboratory Director helps to manage an experienced technical staff to deliver the Institute's diagnostics services. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and ongoing performance of next-generation sequencing molecular diagnostics assays in accordance with all CAP, CLIA and California State CLEP regulations. The Director is jointly responsible for proficiency testing, quality control and quality improvement programs for the Institute's clinical laboratory and for signing out clinical cases. Provides the strategic planning and oversight necessary to maintain a competitive facility. Specifies needed instrumentation and supporting equipment (e.g., compute servers). Sets fees and ensures that the facility maintains or exceeds standards.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    MD or PhD

    5 years of experience

    Board certification in medical genetics

    California State Certificate of Qualification or eligibility for such in genetic testing or appropriate categories

    ABMG Certification

    Significant experience in the performance and interpretation of next-generation DNA sequencing data

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    7 years of experience

    Significant molecular diagnostics laboratory and staff management experience is highly preferred

    Experience in both industrial and healthcare/academic workplace settings

    The expected hiring range for this position is $81.96 to $112.70
