    Summary:

    Provides strategic expertise in regulatory processes, laws and regulations at the federal and state levels of government. Responsible for managing the organization's response to regulations, legislation and guidance that are strategically important to MetroHealth and for developing public policy recommendations. Convenes broad stakeholder collaborations to advance local, state and federal government relations initiatives. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer services standards of The MetroHealth System.

    Qualifications

    Required

    Bachelor's degree in political science, business, economics, public or healthcare administration, or a closely related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. 8 years of experience in government relations, public policy, advocacy or public service with a direct connection to the health care industry. Strong analytical, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Highly self-motivated and results oriented. Ability to plan, direct, implement, and evaluate simultaneous projects. Ability to work effectively alone and in teams. Impeccable ethics. Strong personal initiative and dedication to The MetroHealth System's mission. General knowledge of medical science and the health care industry. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Preferred

    Master of Health Care Administration, MBA, JD or similar advanced degree. 12 years of experience in government relations, association or public service in healthcare, health insurance or a closely related field. Previous experience with health care public policy.

    Physical Demands

    May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate face-to-face and via phone, email, and other forms of communication. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use a computer.
