  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement, Academic Programs, the Director of Advancement, Eastman Institute for Oral Health is responsible for leading the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) Advancement and Alumni Relations Program. The position manages special campaigns and fundraising priorities established by the EIOH Director. He/she will have responsibility for cultivating and soliciting unrestricted and restricted leadership and major gifts ($100,000+) for the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. The Director will focus on building a robust major gift and George Eastman Circle (GEC) pipeline with a high volume of visits, solicitations, and gifts closed. In addition, the Director will have a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift prospects to qualify, cultivate and solicit, and will be a role model through his/her activity level with the primary objectives:

    • To further strengthen existing relations between EIOH and its alumni and major donors.

    • To increase the pipeline of donors, establish and strengthen relationships with newly identified leadership and major gift prospects for EIOH.

    • To raise substantially more gifts for EIOH, with focused attention on increasing endowment.

    • Develop a keen understanding/awareness of EIOH and their needs to facilitate effective dialogue with prospects, and to train and assist other Advancement colleagues.

    • Raise awareness and the visibility of the education, clinical and research offered by EIOH.

    The Director will partner with the Director of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, EIOH faculty and staff, and University and URMC Advancement colleagues. He/she is expected to be a full and active member of the URMC Advancement Academic Programs team and of the broader University Advancement team - participating in strategy and planning, contributing their ideas and counsel particularly as it is related to EIOH. This position requires travel.

    RESONSIBILITIES:

    Fundraising

    • Develops and implements a comprehensive advancement program in conjunction with the Director of EIOH and the established priorities set forth for the Institute and constituencies.

    • Travels, taking advantage of the EIOH Director's and faculty travel plans and annual dental meetings to plan visits with major prospects and donors. Partners in planning and staffing EIOH alumni receptions/dinners.

    • Build a robust major gift and George Eastman Circle (GEC) pipeline with a high volume of visits, solicitations, and gifts closed. Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift prospects to cultivate and solicit, and will be a role model through his/her activity level with the primary objectives:

    • Strengthen existing relations between EIOH and its alumni and major donors.

    • Increase the pipeline of donors, establish and strengthen relationships with newly identified leadership and major gift prospects for EIOH.

    • Regular contact with prospects and donors through engagement events/dinners/salons, personal visits, letters and phone calls. Identifies alumni and friends with volunteer leadership potential.

    • Actively uses Oasis System. Prepares "call reports" following visits and events, manages proposals and strategies.

    • Collaborate with University Advancement Regional Major Gift, GEC, URMC gift officers, Annual Fund, Corporations and Foundations, Trusts & Estates, Stewardship, and Communications for EIOH solicitations and stewardship with major gift donors and prospects; create strategies for and solicit donors capable of contributing $100,000 or more.

    • Incorporates visits with alumni, donors, and prospects for other URMC programs while traveling and assists with the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to best utilize resources and increase dollars raised.

    • Will work in conjunction with leadership, and faculty on fundraising initiatives, and other special projects.

    • In coordination with the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, URMC Academic Programs and working with EIOH division faculty/ staff and University Advancement staff, manages and coordinates Alumni and Reunion activities and special events for the Eastman Institute for Oral Health.

    • Represents the University, Medical Center, and schools at events as needed.

    Program and Volunteer Management

    • Work closely with the EIOH Director on all matters related to fundraising and alumni relations. Standing meetings with Director and department chairs.

    • Develop an annual fundraising plan, including financial projections and plans that address the EIOH and URMC Advancement priorities. Leads efforts to share priorities with team and advancement working closely with academic programs team major gift officers.

    • Partners with marketing and communications on fundraising case for support.

    • Serves as the advancement liaison to the Eastman Dental Center Foundation Board. Present updates at board meetings and lead volunteer advancement engagement and philanthropic opportunities.

    • Commitment to professional development including updating of program knowledge.

    Other Duties

    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Ex. Director, URMC Academics Program.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    • Master's preferred

    • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of seven years advancement experience; with a track record of success in individual major gift fundraising, preferably in a medical setting and experience in cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of gifts of $100,000 or more. Individuals with related experiences.

    • Ability to work in a team environment required.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $84,718 - $127,088 Annually

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
