    Job Description

    An Employee Relations Partner takes a forward leaning employee-centric stance in creating and maintaining a strong workplace culture through positive employee interactions and experiences. Focus is placed on aligning cultural pillars, harnessing actionable data, supporting high performance work environments, and educating others on positive employee experience practices. The ERP must work proactively to advance and influence key business objectives. This position is located within Workplace Experience, a centralized HR management function based in Birmingham, Alabama, supporting approximately 10,000 team members in the BBVA USA footprint.

    The ERP monitors and ensures through coaching and education of managers and employees that actions affecting employment relationships, including employee assistance, discipline, termination, or complaints as well as inquiries regarding any and all aspects of their employment are performed consistently and in compliance with all federal and state regulations, employment laws and company policies across the footprint.

    This role also serves as a subject matter expert in BBVA Talent and Culture policies and practices, and federal and state employment regulations. The ERP must demonstrate experience in exercising independent judgment to make sound decisions, recommendations and solve problems


    • Provide consultation and instruction to managers in administering discipline for conduct, performance and/or absence management, and creating a positive workplace experience, etc.

    • Provide consultation and support to employees with professional and personal problems affecting their employment; investigating and resolving employee complaints.

    • Conduct investigations into inappropriate workplace behavior, ensuring that they are handled in a fair, timely manner; ensuring investigations are thorough and include: understanding of the allegations; appropriate interviews, analysis and documentation; and recommendations for conclusion and course of action.

    • Collaborate and partner with Compliance, Corporate Investigations, Physical Security, Retail Operations and other internal partners utilizing creative conflict resolution and negotiation skills

    • Ensure that all employee contact is recorded in the appropriate applications, and that strict confidentiality is maintained


    • Bachelor''s Degree in Human Resources/Business or related degree

    • 3-5 years of experience of Employee Relations/Investigations gained in either an HRBP role, Employee Relations role or equivalent experience in interpreting/applying federal and state employment law

    • Experience dealing with employment law principles and conducting and advising on investigations

    • Must possess strong moral ethics, exhibit the ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing, possess strong analytical skills, be able to maintain composure under pressure, and be able to multi-task with confidence and comfort.
