Fermentation Research Associate

Workplace: Onsite in South San Francisco, CA

Position Title: Research Associate, Fermentation (Part-time)

Pay rate: $28-30/hour.

Hours: 4 to 5-hour shifts, between the hours of 8:30am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, and could include weekends

Overview

The Research Associate will support fermentation experiments.

Responsibilities

• Perform fermenter set-up, operation and cleaning, culture inoculation, harvesting and downstream processing.

• Perform relevant measurements and assays.

• Run shake flask experiments for medium optimization.

• Prepare biological media, stock solutions, and buffers according to SOPs.

• Maintaining experimental records, SOPs, and reports.

• Collect data and communicate process metrics; utilize metrics to recommend improvements.

• Maintain the inventory of consumables and order as required.

• Troubleshoot issues and notify the supervisor as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field required.

• 1+ year experience working in a lab or comparable environment that involves knowledge of sanitation and sterilization methods, procedures, and equipment.

• Experience creating media.

• Experience with Bioprocess Scale-up.

• Willing and able to work weekends if needed.
