    Job Summary

    As the Head of Risk & Controls for GCIB (Global Corporate & Investment Banking) Operations, you will be responsible for all risk matters and functions for Operations in the Americas (bank and securities), as well as coordinating global risk activities into the Americas. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive risk and control program governance and reporting framework which includes program development, execution, reporting and monitoring. You will partner with Operations SMEs in evidencing a strong risk and control framework across all applicable risk types. As someone at the top of your profession, you are recognized as a thought leader and trusted advisor and consistently represent your organization, engaging with the company's executives and regulators. You have the finely honed analytical thinking and iterative problem- solving skills required to drive significant business objectives as well as short- and long-term planning and implementation. In the process, you will be at the forefront of strategy and innovation as your contributions have a tremendous impact on the business.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Execute a strong governance program for risk and control programs including QC as applicable i.e. Issues Mgmt, RCSA, Fraud, Info, Policy, Third Party, Regulatory, Model/EUC, Strategic, etc.

    • Coordinate and oversee risk assessments.

    • Provide insightful analysis on risk data trends including root cause analyses trends.

    • Provide credible challenge to business SMEs.

    • Act as the Operations liaison with external regulatory or legal bodies on execution of enterprise risk program execution.

    • Drive various risk and control-related projects and initiatives focused on control assessment and enhancements, and deep dives with various functional and business partners

    • Ensure appropriate governance routines over remediation of regulatory, audit, and self-identified risk and control issues

    • Provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive reporting to management team and other firm-wide forums on current and emerging risks, control matters, and other relevant risk topics

    • Provide control-related subject matter expertise for relevant projects driven inside and outside of the Operations organization

    • Facilitate interaction and strong connectivity, within the organization and across the bank, related to current and emerging risk and control topics; includes engagement with second and third lines of defense

    • Perform root cause analysis on defects and ensure action plans and controls address root cause.

    • Reviews issue milestone, control execution and sustainability to ensure full remediation against issue root causes and successful validations.

    • Approves control design and determines control effectiveness that can be relied on by FLoD, SLoD and TLoD.

    • Evaluate complaints, understand root cause and alter process controls in order to reduce complaints.

    • Participate and lead various risk management and/or control committees; actively engage in discussion, providing insight and effective challenge.

    • Recruit, develop, and retain key talent, ensuring that the resources dedicated to risk management are effective in carrying out the required functions

    • Manage and oversee activities performed by the Business Unit Risk Managers (BURM) to provide a holistic view to senior leadership and ensure the team effectively executes required functions

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Generally, expect 15+ years of experience, but other industry experience will be considered as well.

    • Bachelors' Degree (MBA or related preferred)

    • Deep knowledge of Operational Risk and associated framework i.e. information security, privacy, fraud, fiduciary, SOX, Model/EUC

    • Business Process Management experience.

    • Familiarity with US regulations.

    • Understanding of risk management and how regulatory and policy requirements impact processes.

    • Ability to identify document, design and monitor effective, evidencable controls.

    • Strong knowledge of the inherent risk in the business.

    • Experience in control testing and issue validation.

    • Global experience.

    • Work effectively in a team environment; addresses conflicts appropriately, and builds productive partnerships with customers, business partners, and stakeholders to achieve targeted business results.

    • Extraordinary communicator: builds relationships with business partners and ensures prompt, transparent dedicated, and effective communications with these partners; presents complex issues and ideas with precision and clarity, adjusting appropriately for the audience; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

    • Skillfully crafts senior-level partner presentations, tailored appropriately to the audience. Able to grasp new technology paradigms and assess them rapidly, using deep and broad technology experience in large, complex environments.

    • Experience bringing together diverse groups to solve complex problems in a collegial atmosphere.

    • Can think big and act fast with a start-up mentality while able to operate in a corporate environment. Insatiable desire to learn and continue to push the envelope of current practices and technologies.

    • Ability to hire, mentor, develop and supervise the work of highly skilled teams and network and maintain relationships with known industry experts and leaders.

    • Proven leadership and management experience in the Financial Services industry leading large matrixed organizations.

    • Preferred Experience: First line of Defense Risk and Controls, Commercial Banking Operations and Process design, Capital and Expense Budgeting, Contract and Personnel management, Organizational Design and Transformation, Reporting and Governance management, and general leadership and management of large matrixed organizations.

    The typical base pay range for this role is between $200K - $300K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
