    Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI (5x week in Plant, supporting 3rd shift operations, 4am-12pm)

    Opportunity

    Under the direction of the Mgr-HR K&B Operations, this position's primary responsibility will be to provide HR Generalist support for manufacturing and administrative areas within the Cast Iron facility on the Kohler, Wisconsin campus. The position supports the business unit and leads business unit managers in the activity of linking HR activity to the success and strength of the organizations. The position interfaces in all aspects of the business unit, its customers and especially its associates bringing HR activity into alignment to organization goals and helps the organization succeed through progressive and responsive HR practices. A team-player in the business unit, a partner with other HR professionals in business units, Centers of Excellence and Shared Services. The position is the interface with the business unit and common Kohler HR values.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Drives organizational effectiveness through strategic recruitment, employee engagement, talent development, cultural focus, and retention. Understand unique HR issues in each area.

    • Establish and enforce all HR policies and procedures. Counsel manufacturing, non-exempt, and exempt employees with performance concerns.

    • Efficiently maneuver through various employment relations scenarios up to and including grievances. In partnership with the Employee Relations Manager, serve as a subject matter expert in HR processes, procedures, and employment law.

    • Able to successfully maneuver through various HR problems based on a solid knowledge of HR processes, procedures, and employment laws, and independently work through employee relations issues for exempt and non-exempt associates.

    • Function as a creative risk taker with proven examples of innovative approaches to problem solving. Addressing obstacles with a strong "problem resolution" drive is essential.

    • Demonstrated partnership with other areas of the business to drive results, not just "HR" solutions", but actions that show solid understanding of the business and what drives success and put in strategies to deliver

    • Excel in delivering improved employee retention, culture, and engagement.

    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management to ensure adequate communication of staffing needs; conduct interviews of non-exempt, exempt applicants to assess cultural and tactical fit to job openings

    • Support and partner with Manager's to develop individual goals/objectives for each staff member that support the department goals

    • Understand the strengths, weaknesses, talent levels, skill gaps and development needs for associates at every level

    • Identify key positions within business area and develop succession strategies for those positions. Identify high potential associates for development.

    • Identify and select programs to develop high potential employees for current and future assignments. Work with management to facilitate identification of critical skills and identify cost effective and timely training programs to teach these skills.

    • Counsel management of individual Human Resource issues, performance problems, termination, promotions, position creation, job content, and job description development.

    • Undertake special projects with high impact on behalf of the business.

    Skills/Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years related experience required. Master's degree preferred

    • Strong preference for someone who is bilingual with Spanish skills but not required

    • Must be able to work independently and perform detailed work while exercising analytical, independent judgment and discretion

    • Possess a keen sense of ownership and accountability.

    • Ability to develop, strengthen, and coach HR talent while having a high, positive energy presence. A personality people want to lead and be led by.

    • Must be a self-directed collaborator and have computer proficiency

    • Must have proficient communication and people skills with ability to explain HR policies and procedures and actions taken.

    • Must have ability to discuss issues that may be controversial/sensitive or where variation in interpretation is possible.

    • Must have knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and regulations.

    The salary range for this position is $63,100 - $79,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
