  • The HR & EHS Manager is responsible for supporting all HR & EHS initiatives and playing a key leadership role for the Medina facility. The HR & EHS Manager will provide leadership and direction for recommending, implementing, and supporting practices necessary to drive the success of the facility and be a strategic business partner. Additionally, the position will oversee and carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: HR Reporting and Metrics, HR Auditing, Onboarding, Workforce Planning, Talent Development, Change Management, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Employment Law and Compliance, HRIS, and special projects. From an EHS perspective, the incumbent will be responsible to lead and direct the implementation of key concepts of all environmental, health and safety processes at the facility.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Provides direction and counsel in all areas of human resources in support of plant operations.

    • Develops a positive working relationship with team members and contributes towards an engaging culture to facilitate change and reinforce company values.

    • Leads talent management programs, including performance review cycle tracking, individual development plans, and succession planning.

    • Oversees requisition, recruitment, interview, and selection of non-exempt and exempt positions.

    • Serves as resource to plant manager and leadership team regarding human resources related topics and issues.

    • Recommends, develops, and implements policies, practices, and procedures.

    • Leads employee engagement effort, working with plant leadership and management in the creation and use of best practices.

    • Assists in the strategic development and planning process.

    • Manages governmental and company regulatory compliance efforts.

    • Manages plant benefits, compensation, and payroll related processes.

    • Work closely with site departments and managers to develop a strong retention program for the site.

    • Work with Plant Manager on community involvement initiatives.

    • Develops and implements HR related plans and practices, aligning with operational objectives.

    • Establish plant safety policies/programs to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state/local regulatory requirements.

    • Promote plant safety by working closely with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements.

    • Co-chair with the Plant Management, the Safety Committee process and encourage greater participation in and rewards from the process. Provide support and direction to instill an employee driven safety structure.

    • Analyze incident data to identify trends and incident types that can be prevented.

    • Oversee the incident investigation process to determine root cause and timely corrective action.

    • Establish and Manage Environmental, Health and Safety objectives.

    • Drive environmental and safety process ownership to the floor level where appropriate.

    • Manager Worker Compensation Claims, establish strong partnership with occupational clinic and Direct medical staff to provide timely and appropriate medical attention when needed.

    • Develop training programs for all levels of plant personnel toward the end of a safer, more efficient, engaged and productive plant.

    • Manage and monitor training programs to meet Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health requirements.

    • Assure all EHS records are kept in accordance with State and Federal regulations including OSHA logs and training documents.

    • Responsible for the managing and leadership for OJT training and Maintenance Tech program - Working Cross functionally with site leadership and respective departments

    • Develops, implements, and recommends programs and practices designed to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses including but not limited to ergonomic assessments and job hazard analysis.

    • Safely and accurately perform all duties as required for this position to ensure the safety of the employee, the property and the environment.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Occupational Health and Safety or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources and Environmental, Health and Safety required.

    • Minimum of three years of Human Resources management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

    • Experience and aptitude with HRIS required (Workday preferred)

    • Experience in food or CPG industry preferred

    • Experience in hazard recognition, evaluation and analysis, and development and implementation of control processes.

    • Experience in developing and managing training programs to promote workplace health and safety.

    • A strong understanding of OHSA compliance requirements.

    • Experience in leading teams.

    • Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook) required

    • Results driven, process oriented, and project management mindset required

    • Strong customer service, relationship building, problem solving and follow-up skills

    • Proven analytical capabilities, strategic thinking, and business acumen

    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

    • Thorough knowledge of current trends and issues in Human Resources Management

    Pay Range

    $73,000 - $110,000 Annual (USD)
