Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Surveillance, data collection, analysis and management of data are essential.

Identification and analysis of problem areas and the ability to determine solutions to problems are critical.

Collaborate with hospital disciplines for appropriate patient placement and have the ability to identify the appropriate isolation precautions for various disease entities.

Reporting to the CDC, State and Local health department preferred.

The candidate will be a member of the Infection Prevention Committee and other hospital based committees.

Knowledge of infection control risk assessments as needed for projects. Should be willing to take on initiatives and special projects as needed or as requested

Provide education as it relates to infection prevention for all levels of employees/medical staff, patients/families, and visitors.

Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidenced based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.

Candidate must possess the ability to collaborate within the RWJBH System and with all external agencies.

Candidate will uphold the Universal Behavioral Values of the hospital.

Candidate must have excellent communication and computer skills including proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

Candidate must possess knowledge of the CDC / NHSN HAI surveillance criteria

Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:

Completion of Clinical experience in NLN accredited school/Medical Technology/Microbiology or other Health Science Schooling Degree.

Current New Jersey Registered Nurse License if applicable. BSN Required.

Current Board Certification in Infection Prevention and Control or Infection Control

Eligible to sit for exam after 2 years experience. CBIC (Certification Board of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology) within 5 years required.( refer to the CBIC website for detailed requirements)

Association for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) training course or equivalent preferred

Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Special Equipment/Skills

Must possess strong computer skills

Organizational ability

Excellent written and communication skills

Required Experience:

Preferred at Least 2 Years of clinical experience in an acute-care hospital setting.

Experience with infection control and data mining systems preferred.
