  • GENERAL PURPOSE

    Reporting to the VP for Marketing and Communications, the Business Operations Manager develops an annual integrated planning program and ongoing prioritization practices that clearly articulate the department's initiatives to the team and other leaders across the University, while driving matrixed work that is impactful and efficient. The Manager creates a communication program that clearly shares the work and outcomes of the marketing and communication teams.

    This role requires fostering collaboration between and among key stakeholders both internal and external to the department, and the ability to work across all levels to influence and track planning and initiatives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategy and Planning

    Working with the VP of Marketing and Communications, develops an annual planning process to clearly define and articulate the primary goals for the upcoming year, and regularly communicates priorities to colleagues across the institution. Leads implementation of initiatives; regularly assesses department performance against defined goals, and makes suggestions for improvement based on data and assessment.

    Operational Efficiency and Resource Management

    Creates processes and practices for ongoing prioritization that focus the organization on the most important work and clearly articulates them to others across the institution. Working with senior managers in University Communications, leads implementation of department initiatives and provides direction and leadership support as needed. Continuously evaluates and improves processes, workflows, costs, and systems to enhance efficiency and productivity. Allocates and manages resources to meet business objectives and financial goals.

    Tools and Technology

    Researches, tests, and identifies the most effective tools, meeting schedule, and other structures that will improve the team's efficiency and output. Regularly assesses to ensure that tools, practices, and policies are current, efficient, and effective in helping the department achieve goals.

    Analysis and Reporting

    Designs reporting program that communicates trending themes and important work to other leaders across the institution. Analyzes relevant data and metrics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Prepares and presents regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational results to senior management across the University.

    Finance and Budget

    Assists in budget management by tracking and forecasting finances for the Office of Marketing and Communications. Design and execute a process to reallocate budgets throughout the fiscal year as needed. Partners with the VP of Marketing and Communication to lead the annual budget process for the organization.

    Risk Management

    Identifies potential operational risks and develops strategies to mitigate them to ensure business continuity.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, finance, communications, or a related field required.

    • Master's degree preferred.

    • Proven experience in business operations management, with a minimum of 8 years in a similar role required.

    • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

    • Systems thinker required.

    • Collaborative problem solver required.

    • Highly organized required.

    • Leader who takes initiative and follows through required.

    • Team player with a can-do attitude required.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $95,306 - $142,979 Annually

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
