    Hybrid Position - Monday - Thursday Onsite - Remote on Friday

    Position Summary

    The Loan Accounting team is directly responsible for the accuracy and completeness of loan ledgers, overseeing quarterly loan ledger closings, and supporting external audits. In addition, the division is responsible for servicing borrowers' debt repayments, monitoring overdue status, and directly engaging with operational teams to facilitate timely repayments. The division is also a focal point for preparing and researching loan portfolio queries and requests from senior management and is also engaged upstream in supporting and operationalizing new products, policies, and corporate initiatives.

    The consultant will support the loan accounting team on day to day accounting and reporting responsibilities, and may also include supporting corporate projects and initiatives. A large part of the work program relates to addressing urgent and unanticipated issues that arise on a regular basis - from all levels of the organization.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Month close / daily accounting activities:

    • Directly perform monthly and quarterly accounting closing production work for loans portfolios.

    • Correspond with various other departments and units to obtain and compile financial data to ensure accurate and timely period end reporting.

    • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for period-end close.

    • Updating and/or review of loan master data setup.

    Data Analysis and Compilation

    • Assisting with a variety of quantitative research activities including collection and preparation of data, visualizations along with extraction and analysis of data from multiple sources to build summaries, tables, and report sections.

    • Analyze and prepare ongoing and ad hoc reports using quantitative and qualitative data for various groups.

    • Responding to critical data requests from Management and/or internal clients.

    Systems and Controls

    • Perform user acceptance testing of new systems and functionality.

    • Proactively monitor and anticipate internal control issues.

    • Adopt and role model a strong control mindset. Initiate actions to remediate and learn from issues to strengthen the control environment.

    • Any other ad hoc tasks as they arise.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

    • 4 - 7 years of experience in loan accounting at a business or Big 4 public accounting/audit firm supporting similar sized companies.

    • Experience using major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).

    • CPA (active or inactive) is preferred.

    Travel Requirements: Onsite Mon-Thurs in Washington, DC. Fridays are remote.

    Salary range $65-75/hr W2. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
