    Biweekly Hours: 80.00

    Shift: 40 hours day shift

    Summary:

    Plans, organizes, and manages the system-wide day-to-day operations of the CDI (Clinical Documentation Integrity) program. Manages the activities of and provides leadership to the CDI professionals in the organization. Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert for hospital / medical staff in matters of DRG assignment, quality, and complete clinical documentation. Monitors CDI performance to meet regulatory, legal, and risk management implications of health information, coding, and documentation compliance guidelines. Actively participates in evaluating, selecting, and maintaining information systems supporting the CDI department. Manages CDI quality, productivity, workflow, and performance activities.

    Qualifications

    Required

    Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. A minimum of 2 years' experience working with clinical documentation integrity in an acute care hospital setting. Knowledge of regulations and guidelines pertaining to documentation. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills including excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate. effectively with all levels of management and medical providers. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail. Ability to conduct basic research, analyze and interpret data, evaluate processes, and propose solutions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Preferred

    Registered Nurse in State of Ohio. Master's degree in related field. Proficiency with computerized encoder and CDI technology.

    One or more of the following active credentials

    • 3M or 3M 360
    • CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) - AHIMA
    • CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation and Certification) - ACDIS

    Physical Demands

    May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer.
