    Manager & Counsel - Amex Strategic Partnerships and Digital Labs

    Role & Responsibilities:

    The Digital, Strategic Partnerships & Legal Risk Management team is seeking a Manager & Counsel attorney to provide legal and strategic counsel to (i) Strategic Partnerships, a team that manages many of American Express' most strategic enterprise relationships and (ii) Amex Digital Labs, a team that is focused on developing innovative digital products and services across different platforms. This is a role that requires intensive partnership with business colleagues and other stakeholders.

    Here's just some of what you'll do in this role:

    • Provide legal and strategic support to business teams in the negotiating, drafting, and ongoing support of partnership and other agreements, working in close collaboration with legal and business colleagues

    • Support the exploration and evaluation of potential partnership integrations and pilots,

    • Partner closely with business colleagues to understand their concerns and challenges, and use your creativity and practical problem solving to quickly action solutions

    • Provide guidance on a broad range of legal, strategic and policy matters, as well as relationship management and operational process questions, all within a dynamic business and regulatory environment

    • Engage in ongoing cross-functional collaboration to address privacy, consumer protection, compliance, bank regulatory, intellectual property, data security, data strategy and other issues

    • Generate buy-in and develop strategic partnerships across various business unit teams and control groups through relationship-building and effective communication

    Are you ready for the challenge?

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree & J.D.

    • Admitted to New York Bar or eligibility to do so

    • 3 years of relevant legal experience

    • Experience drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial agreements

    • Experience advising on new product development

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Experience with (or strong interest in) digital ecosystems, data and technologies

    • Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions to client issues

    • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively, in both written and oral format

    • Ability to build relationships and partner with others to drive results

    • Capacity to be agile and pivot appropriately when presented with new information or evolving circumstances

    • Experience in FinTech, payments and banking or the wider financial services space.

    • Familiarity with one or more of the following topics: mobile payments, electronic payments, remittances, web 3.0, tokenization, or other innovate products enabled by new technologies.

    Qualifications

    Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits

    The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

    Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.
