    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

    Directs and manages the day-to-day operations of the hospice program. Involved in the strategic planning, marketing and business development of hospice program. Responsible for establishing policies and procedures and standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Promotes patient (or other customer) satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and the mission and philosophy of the Hospice program. Coordinates with other home care departments, hospital facilities, and physician practices to ensure continuity of care and coordination of care. Ensures Hospice program meets all regulatory standards for licensure and accreditation. Maintains adequate staffing levels for optimal business operations. Involved in fundraising, community outreach, and financial aspects of the hospice program. Coordinates and develops the hospice program in conjunction with the Service Line Director and Hospice Medical Director.

    Essential Job Functions

    • ? Program development to include policies/procedures, strategic goals, marketing, day-to-day operations, regulatory requirements, financial, and staffing.

    • Maintaining regulatory compliance to ensure optimal business and patient outcomes for the program as well as continual survey readiness.

    • Fiscally responsible for hospice program revenues and expenses to include supplies and drug costs, fundraising, community outreach, and operational program oversight.

    • Directing and supervising hospice program staff in performance of their duties as appropriate to their role in the Hospice program.

    Licensing/Certification

    • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC.

    • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (required)

    • Master's Degree in health administration, business, leadership, or a health related field (preferred)

    Work Experience

    • At least 5 years of patient care, management, business development, or regulatory/reimbursement experience in Hospice (required)

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

    Frequent sitting. Frequently requires long periods of working at a computer. Intermittent walking, standing, stooping, bending. May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. No exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Normal office environment. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. Ability to read and comprehend. Travel may be required. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    Skills

    Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills :

    • Management principles including managing staff relationships, health planning, program management, basic financial understanding, reimbursement, contract negotiations, fundraising, problem solving, quality improvement, human resource development and planning.

    • Knowledge of DHEC, Joint Commission and other applicable regulations impacting Hospice services.

    • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

    • Fluent in system-wide PC applications Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

    Soft/Interpersonal Skills:

    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with patients, hospital, medical staff and public.

    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in a variety of situations.

    • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.
