    Description:

    Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs CT

    Under the direction of the Regional Director Laboratory Services, establishes and supports the overall technical operation of the Trinity Health Of New England Regional Laboratory in order to provide excellence and quality of laboratory services to Trinity Health of New England member Hospitals, their patients, providers and outreach clients.

    Responsible for all technical aspects of the Rapid Response Laboratory, and the Receiving/Processing areas. May oversee Collections sites, other lab locations such as infusion centers, and Pathology if applicable. Work directly with other Managers throughout Trinity Health of New England Regional Laboratory Services.

    What You Would Do:

    • Plans, assigns, and directs work in all areas of the laboratory. Serves as liaison between Trinity Health Of New England Regional Laboratory and the Hospital.

    • Directly responsible for the management and supervision of the daily work to meet Trinity Health Of New England Regional Laboratory service expectations as agreed upon by the Hospital.

    • Mentors and supports direct reports in their responsibilities and functions. Mentors and supports all staff within department.

    • Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs in cooperation with the Regional Manager, Lab Quality and Lab Safety Manager, and Billing and Compliance Specialist. Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date.

    • Oversee plans and preparations for all inspections especially CAP and DPH Accreditation requirements. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.

    • Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling. Works with Human Resource Department.

    • Identifies future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities. Submits appropriate documentation for procurement of such.

    • Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources to adhere to budget.

    • Must have proven leadership, interpersonal skills and technical knowledge, strong organization and planning skills.

    Position Hours:

    • 40 hours, Days, Flexibility needed to meet needs of Lab

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in lab science and 4 years training or experience in high complexity testing

    • 7 - 10 years General laboratory, 3-5 years as a supervisor in a complex laboratory operation. Experience as a Generalist preferred

    • MT-ASCP; must meet the High complexity personnel requirements under CLIA as a Technical Supervisor.

    • Detailed knowledge of laboratory quality assurance/control. Understanding of laboratory instrumentation and emerging technologies

    • Ability to design and implement complex technical operations, workstations and workflow. Ability to train and supervise technical laboratory staff

    • Ability to interact effectively with the Regional Director of Laboratory Services, physicians and meeting the Laboratory objectives of the Trinity Health Of New England Regional Laboratory

    • Ability to maintain high standard of Trinity Health Of New England Regional Laboratory performance and test results integrity

    • Must have experience in dealing with personnel to include performance reviews, setting goals and objectives, and disciplinary action

    • Must have Strong Leadership Skills and Supervisory Experience
