    The MITRE Accelerator is a function within MITRE that accelerates and incubates MITRE innovation for public good. The Accelerator has launched two major initiatives in its first year - MITRE Engenuity, our foundation for public good (501c3 MITRE affiliate), and incubated SecureG, a 5G security company with CTIA and Blu Ventures.

    MITRE's Accelerator Office manage Engenuity - MITRE's tech foundation for public good. Engenuity is a ~$15M business comprised of incubations that engage the private sector in public good collaboration such as the Center for Threat Informed Defense (cyber alliance), MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations (fee for service with the cyber vendor community), Open Generation (5G alliance), the Semiconductor Alliance (CHIPS industry collaboration), plus the opportunity to launch spin outs (e.g. MAD20 Training and Certification program launched in 2023).

    The Accelerator Office at MITRE Engenuity is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Managing Director of MITRE Engenuity to oversee its Profit and Loss (P&L) operations, spearhead business development, and ensure the successful delivery of programs to meet our margin and goal targets. In this role, you will lead our primary and ancillary businesses, coordinating with various departments such as contracts, legal, HR, IT, and Marketing to ensure seamless operations. Drawing from MITRE's 60-year legacy in systems engineering and R&D, you will be instrumental in quickly mobilizing and bringing MITRE innovation to the private sector for public good. Reporting to the SVP and Chief Acceleration Officer at MITRE, you will play a pivotal role in scaling the Accelerator and amplifying MITRE Engenuity's impact. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced executive with a proven track record in P&L Management, product and go-to-market strategies, and experience working with government entities.

    The Accelerator Office facilitates the enhancement of security, safety, and resilience within critical infrastructure sectors, including finance, telecommunications, and healthcare. Our work involves fostering cross-industry collaborations and partnerships and developing transformative tools to bolster national security.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Lead strategic initiatives by identifying, defining, and developing cutting-edge technology opportunities.

    • Work closely with our Accelerator Funnel team to launch new initiatives annually that will drive growth and enhance Engenuity's impact.

    • Establish strong relationships with private sector industry leaders, government leaders, and investors.

    • Collaborate with MITRE's technical teams to bring MITRE impact to market through the private sector and government where applicable.

    • Curate opportunities for growth through relationships and partnerships to execute and scale.

    • Oversee the financial performance of the business, ensuring profitability and growth.

    • Develop and implement strategies for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Provide leadership and direction to the team, fostering an environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.

    • Monitor market trends and competitor activities, adjusting strategies as necessary to maintain a competitive edge.

    • Proven track record in managing the design, creation, launch, and selling of technology products/service offerings.

    • Demonstrated success in P&L management.

    • Proven ability to establish strong customer relationships, strategic product and business development, team building, go-to-market planning, inventory control, and general financial planning.

    • Experience with product management tools and methodologies.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 10 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

    • Experienced executive with a proven track record in managing the design, creation, launch, and selling of technology products/service offerings.

    • Demonstrated success in Profit and Loss (P&L) management.

    • Proven ability to establish strong customer relationships, strategic product and business development, team building, go-to-market planning, inventory control, and general financial planning.

    • 10+ years of experience in managing and growing staff.

    • Experience with product management tools and methodologies.

    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

    • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.

    • Established industry and government relationships.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • MS/MBA preferred.

    • 15 years of relevant experience offering full cycle technology products/service

    • Expert Financial Planning experience

    • Experience with Federally Funded Research Development Centers (FFRDC)
