We are looking for a Operations Manager who will manage the day-to-day operations in compliance with established policies and procedures, and the company's Code of Conduct, including safety. Manage inventory allocation, procurement activities and operations of the yard. Ensure proper training of staff, prepare related reports, and audit current procedures for improved efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide direction and leadership to the operations team (Y&W and operations support employees)

    • Manage all aspects of Inventory Control, including:

    • Demand planning (based on input from and cooperation with Sales & Area Manager)

    • Sourcing material and coordinating transfers to / from other locations through interaction with peers

    • Coaching and training all Operations team members on proper execution of standard inventory transactions as well properly self-performing those procedures

    • Work in cooperation with Customer Service, Billing and Sales to ensure timely resolution of job shortages and over-returns

    • Running routine inventory reports to monitor KPI's and discover abnormalities

    • Lead the execution of regular cycle counts

    • Lead the execution of annual physical inventories

    • Manage off-site Agent inventory control and transactions as required

    • Manage and deploy operational resources in a manner to ensure all customer and company requirements are met including:

    • OTIF (On Time delivery In Full)

    • Timely processing of returns counts and damage assessments

    • Rental fleet properly maintained

    • Manage intercompany and customer freight as required.

    • Manage maintenance of company facilities and equipment (trucks, forklifts, machinery).

    • Track, budget and maintain the facility including Local FD on inspections for alarms, lights etc. Contacting and setting up contracts for the property such as landscaping, snow removal and maintenance to the building.

    • Manage rental fleet maintenance operations, including:

    • Being aware of, training Y&W crews on, and executing all products alerts, safety recalls and upgrade programs as required

    • Being aware of, and training maintenance crew on proper equipment inspection and maintenance procedures

    • Maintain and order adequate repair parts inventory in order to facilitate repair operations (manage local min / max levels)

    • Monitoring productivity on standard maintenance operations in order to ensure efficient operations

    • Timely processing of cutback and scrap reports and transactions in accordance with company policies

    • Lead the execution of company's safety programs on a local level and ensure branch compliance with health and safety policies including yard, people and equipment, including:

    • Ensure safe working conditions in the yard, warehouse and office including timely completion of MSR's

    • Ensure proper training and certifications of employees

    • Ensure proper PPE use by both employees and visitors

    • Maintain proper record keeping

    • Maintain an effective zero accidents "safety culture"

    • Department cost management, including preparation of annual expense and capex budget for facility operations. Includes participation in monthly budgeting, ordering of supplies, Rerent and tracking the PO's

    • Supports the Regional Director in estimating budgeting and forecasting for future business trends and branch volume. Identifies operational areas of concern during high and low volume periods and makes sound recommendations for required head count and cost control. Assists in strategic efforts for the branch and provides input to the Regional Director with regards to higher level planning for corporate decision making.

    Qualifications

    • Post-secondary education combined with five years of related working experience or equivalent. Training or experience in any of the following areas preferred:

    • Industrial Engineering Technician

    • Process Mapping for Continuous Improvement

    • Lean Management Principles

    • Six Sigma

    • Completed Health and Safety training as prescribed by safety management. NCSO designation or equivalent - preferred.

    • Superior interpersonal and communication skills combined with proven leadership capabilities.

    • Experience with union contract

    • Good analytical skills

    • Familiarity and experience with inventory control systems, processes and procedures

    • Technological skills (Exceptional with MS Excel, average or above with other MS Office applications, ability to understand and use ERP and Inventory control software - Profield, Oracle)

    • Experience with continuous improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma) - preferred.

    • OSHA 30 training or equivalent - preferred.
