  • POSITION SUMMARY

    Project Assistant will work under the direction of the Project & Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) Manager. The PPMO at the University of Rochester is looking to hire an undergraduate or graduate student with interest in working with our Project Management team and internal clients. This internship will be focused on project management, business analysis, organizational change and training. This is a temporary internship opportunity.

    NOTE: The timeframe for this role is June 3 rd - August 9 th, 2024

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work under the guidance of the PPMO departmentand administration teams to assist with and/or actively lead activities pertaining to the assigned projects including:

    1. Project Management & Business Analyst tasks

    2. Review methodology and provide feedback

    3. Shadow projects and assist as needed (develop project plan, requirement documents, test plans, etc..)

    4. Review main website and refresh where needed

    5. Support team with PowerBI reports

    6. Review current Resource Management plans

    7. Organizational Change and Training

    8. Assist/shadow in the development of communication plans for change initiatives.

    9. Assist in drafting and distribution of communication materials (emails, newsletters, etc.).

    10. Create training materials, including presentations, handouts, and online resources with guidance from lead Trainer

    11. Develop surveys to gather feedback from participants to improve training content.

    12. Conduct surveys or interviews to assess training needs within the organization.

    13. Assist team with myURHR readiness tour and activities

    Learn and utilize Project Management and Organizational Change Management processes and tools.

    Track lessons learned throughout assignment for presentation to UIT leadership team.

    Learn and demonstrate use of Microsoft Office toolset, SharePoint, and other project office collaboration tools.

    Work closely with manager, establishing a goal plan with objectives to be completed by conclusion of assignment.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Matriculated in an undergraduate studies program in IT, business administration, healthcare administration, engineering, or related field preferred.

    • 1+ year of work experience is preferred.

    • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience required.

    • No professional work experience is required.

    • Technical aptitude with ability to quickly learn new technology preferred.

    • Ability to express complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing preferred.

    • Solution oriented with a positive attitude preferred.

    • Strong ability to prioritize. Strong attention to detail preferred.

    • Reliable and able to establish trust with your team preferred.

    • No professional certification required. Must be able to travel to designated sites as assigned.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $16.50 - 21.45 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
