    Job Summary and Qualifications

    RN Clinicians are experts at providing compassionate care and preparing patients undergoing various cardiac procedures. They have high-level critical thinking skills, vast clinical knowledge, and are able to stay calm under pressure.

    About this unit:

    • Procedures done in the EP Lab range from but not limited to diagnostic EP studies, Watchman, implantation of devices, as as well as performing various ablations including the most complex Afib and VT ablations.

    • Procedures done in the cath lab/hybrid range from but not limited to diagnostic heart caths, interventional heart caths, TAVR, TMVR, watchman and cardiomems.

    • The lab also works with vascular surgeons and performs many peripheral procedures.

    • Specialized area with high acuity and close collaboration with cardiologist.

    • Typical work schedule: 5 8-hr days + call

    Responsibilities:

    • Under the general direction of the Cardiology Manager, coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability or the provision of nursing care as related to the Cardiology Department.

    • Administers medications, monitors patient vital signs/EKG, and performs continuous patient assessment and documentation during patient's stay in the Cardiology Department.

    • Coordinates patient teaching and post procedure assessment as needed.

    • Competent in performing emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

    • Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory and operating electrophysiology support equipment, including EP recording systems, 3D mapping and EP stimulator.

    • Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.

    • Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of Electrophysiology Lab are met.

    • Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedures.

    • Collects and assembles data for data base, outcome analysis and performance improvement.

    • Assists with and participates in continuing education.

    • Supports stay late requirements as needed.

    What Qualifications You Will Need:

    • Graduate of school of nursing required.

    • Current Kansas nursing license required; BLS required upon hire, ACLS required within 6 months of hire and PALS certification required within one year of hire. Excellent interpersonal and team skills required. Basic computer knowledge preferred.

    • Minimum of one-year nursing experience in a cardiology related field preferred. Previous cardiovascular or electrophysiology laboratory experience preferred.
