  • Dr. Holly Wilcox, based at Johns Hopkins University, is currently recruiting a full-time Research Program Coordinator for a study funded by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The study will compare the effectiveness of two relatively brief and scalable evidence-based interventions: the Safety Planning Intervention with follow-up contacts (SPI+), a suicide-specific intervention that helps people prevent suicidal crises from escalating, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents Ultra Short Crisis Intervention (IPT-A SCI), a psychotherapeutic crisis intervention treatment for suicidal adolescents that teaches youth skills to prevent suicidal crises and addresses interpersonal problems that lead to suicidal crises. The results will inform the future standard of care for youth at risk for suicide presenting in the emergency department. This position is particularly well suited for individuals seeking to gain research and clinical experience prior to graduate or medical school.

    Lastly, this position will work closely with other study staff and the principal investigator(s) with regards to study management, preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation, reporting to PCORI, and other administrative tasks.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    • Serving as a liaison between multiple collaborators and disciplines to ensure effective communication and coordination.

    • Managing day-to-day operations of a study (participant recruitment, retention, and reimbursement; conducting baseline and follow-up assessments on REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture); scheduling of follow-up assessments; data collection and management).

    • Dispensing compensation to research participants as required.

    • Interfacing with the hospital clinical staff and participants recruited from the pediatric emergency department.

    • Assisting in resolving logistical and technical issues and contributing to the development and testing of research protocols.

    • Implementing procedural adjustments to increase accuracy and efficiency of data collection and entry.

    • Preparing data for presentations and reports.

    • Completing Institutional Review Board (IRB) modifications and progress reports

    • Managing the grant budget and ordering study-related supplies.

    • Supporting grant management and research dissemination (e.g., manuscripts, presentations).

    • Preparing for and participating in monthly monitoring meetings and audits as required by study sponsors.

    • Being responsible for maintaining and updating the Clinical Research Management System.

    • The Research Program Coordinator will work with additional site PIs to facilitate engagement activities, for example scheduling stakeholder calls, preparing agendas for stakeholder meetings, etc.

    • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to attend to details in a timely manner

    • Excellent communication skills

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

    • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A bachelor's Degree with a background and interest in public health, psychiatry, psychology or related field (e.g., social psychology, human development).

    • Prior research experience working with historically marginalized populations.

    • Experience working with adolescents and/or families is desirable.

    • Experience leading independent projects (e.g., leading a student organization, managing finances, mentoring others)

    • Experience or training in REDCap and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R)

    Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($42,443 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
