  • Overview:

    The Finance & Regulatory Reporting Oversight team provides risk management oversight of the Finance and Regulatory Reporting function; including effective challenge of capital management, planning and forecasting, capital interpretations, capital calculations, resolution planning and FED and FDIC regulatory reporting.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Perform effective review and challenge activities primarily related to capital planning and resolution planning (e.g. PPNR, P&L, credit losses, balance-sheet, RWAs) to provide an understanding of key drivers and to inform decision-making.

    • Build quantitative tools to support effective challenge of capital planning, capital policy, and resolution plan pro-forma financials.

    • Conduct research and analyses of industry and peer bank data; keep appraised of regulatory developments and best practices.

    • Present analytical insights to senior stakeholders within Risk and Finance.

    • Assist with regulatory exams, responses to regulatory feedback, and internal audit exams/reviews.

    • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

    • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

    • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

    • Manage process improvements and other long-term process improvement projects as needed.

    Scope of Responsibilities:

    The Senior Vice President will lead the development and ongoing enhancement of quantitative tools to independently assess the firm's capital management and regulatory reporting activities; such as changes to regulatory requirements, market and/or balance sheet dynamics and present to senior management.

    This position will have substantial contact across all levels of the organization from junior staff to the Chief Risk Officer or other senior/executive members of management in Risk or Treasury/Finance.

    Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

    May supervise a team of 2+ specialized analysts and senior analysts.

    Education and Experience Required:

    Bachelor's degree in quantitative/analytical discipline (e.g., Finance, Accounting or Economics) and minimum of seven years' experience in a risk or business quantitative position including a minimum of two years' experience in credit analysis and market and macro-economic dynamics,

    OR in lieu of degree,

    A combined nine years' work experience and/or higher education with a minimum of two years' experience in credit analysis and market and macro-economic dynamics.

    Two years of experience in formulating, developing and directing cross-functional teams.

    Excellent verbal and written communication, cross-functional collaboration and management skills.

    Ability to communicate concepts/theories and develop alternative recommendations.

    Ability to make effective presentations to all levels of the organization.

    Ability to build consensus, and move projects forward despite roadblocks and competing functional priorities.

    Education and Experience Preferred:

    Master's degree preferred.

    Experience in capital risk management at a Category III or IV bank.

    M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $100,611.94 - $167,686.57 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
