What Is the Nurse Residency Pilot Program?

The Nurse Residency Program is designed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world clinical practice as new grad/novice nurses make transition from nursing school to hospital nursing practice. This program offers an organized, structured, and practice-based learning environment that helps newly graduated nurses' transition smoothly into the dynamic and fast-paced world of healthcare. This program is a testament to our commitment to fostering the growth and development of our nursing team by providing an environment where new nurses can learn and supplementing the work that our nurse preceptors do with new orientees.

    What to Expect:

    • Structured Learning: Nurse residents will engage in a structured curriculum as part of program (8 hours of learning every 2 months for 12 months) that covers essential skills like time management, interprofessional teaming, communication, wellbeing, social determinants of health, critical thinking, and more! This program aims to deliver a confident, competent graduating cohort.

    • Mentorship: Each resident will encounter several mentorship opportunities throughout the program to claim the guidance, support, and valuable insights needed to thrive.

    • Networking: Residents can connect with their peers, build relationships, and collaborate on practice-based learning opportunities.

    • Hands-On Experience: The program includes hands-on clinical experiences to help nurses apply their knowledge in real healthcare scenarios; we are piloting virtual reality as a formative learning experience!
