    POSITION SUMMARY

    The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking an experienced and innovative Scientist specializing in Bioanalytical separation to lead and contribute to complex and scientifically demanding projects within the fields of monoclonal antibody (mAb) analysis, vaccine, and mRNA research. This vital role involves initiating, planning, and executing scientific research with a strong emphasis on method development for bioanalytical separation, employing cutting-edge techniques such as UPLC and CGE. The successful candidate will demonstrate profound analytical prowess and scientific judgment to ensure project objectives are met efficiently within time and budget constraints. Acting as a project manager, this individual will communicate findings, publish state-of-the-art work, and provide strategic recommendations to leadership, crucially influencing "go/no go" decisions. This position promises the opportunity to shape the future of bioanalytical methodologies and contribute significantly to advancing public health through scientific excellence.

    TASKS. The contractor shall:

    • Participate in and lead projects within the specific area of Bioanalytical separation, applying complex and innovative approaches.

    • Independently initiate, plan, design, and execute scientific research, specifically in CGE and UPLC fields, using good scientific judgment.

    • Conduct detailed data analysis and interpretation to ensure scientific rigor.

    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring objectives are achieved within set timelines and budgets.

    • Develop and implement novel investigation and method development strategies to support a wide range of projects.

    • Communicate findings and initiate investigations, drawing conclusions, and managing the publication process.

    • Develop research findings and provide strategic recommendations to NIH leadership.

    • Research and recommend external technologies and methodologies for consideration.

    • Utilize a variety of bio-separation techniques, including electrophoresis and lab-on-chip separation.

    REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

    • Ph.D. in a scientific field with 5+ years of experience, or an MS with 10+ years of specialized experience in relevant fields.

    • Extensive understanding and experience in method development challenges related to mAb, vaccine, and mRNA scientific fields.

    • Expertise in monoclonal and multi-specific antibodies, recombinant protein vaccines, nanoparticles, mRNA, and mRNA/LNP vaccines.

    • Proficiency in developing release and characterization methods using reversed phase HPLC/UPLC -UV methods, and HPLC/UPLC - MS methods.

    • Familiarity with a range of bio-separation techniques, including electrophoresis and lab-on-chip separation.

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a research/development laboratory environment with a high level of expertise.

    • Exceptional scientific insight and conceptual thinking abilities.

    • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

    • Strong record-keeping skills with demonstrated knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in word processing, data evaluation, and project management software.
