    Position Summary:

    The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to ensure that company transactions are properly reflected in the Company's General Ledger on a timely basis in accordance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant also ensures that SOX controls and reporting requirements placed on a public company are properly executed. Through the focus on the company's General Ledger and audit requirements, the Senior Accountant will be positioned to make an impact on the team and company operating locations by working as a business partner with individuals company-wide. This collaboration will not only grow their accounting knowledge and skills, but will also grow their industry knowledge and set them up for long-term growth within Core-Mark.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with Finance Directors across the organization as an OpCo Lead to ensure company is maintaining a clean and current General Ledger.

    • Prepare General Ledger journal entries during the month-end close. This includes ensuring that adequate supporting documentation is prepared and included in the work papers.

    • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations by summarizing monthly activity, reviewing any follow up or aging items, and confirming that all account details are current and up to audit requirements.

    • Communicate any material items to the appropriate business partners in the company in a timely manner.

    • Develop standard practices across operating locations as it relates to their General Ledger activity.

    • Help lead internal process improvements for team and other members of the organization.

    • Responsible for accurate and timely internal reporting during the month-end close process to include assessment of financial risks and opportunities.

    • When requested provide variance analysis as compared to last year, year-end and prior quarter for assigned areas on the financial statements.

    • Support external and internal audit requests when necessary.

    • Provide ad-hoc analysis as needed to support the Operation Leads, Finance Directors, OpCo Presidents, Regional VPs, etc.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business with a major in Accounting preferred

    • 3-6 years of relevant accounting and/or reporting experience. Relevant month end close experience a plus

    • Good working knowledge of GAAP as it related to General Ledger accounting

    • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programs

    • Takes ownership for all assigned areas of responsibility

    • Ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere

    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

    • Excellent organization and problem solving skills

    • Flexible, organized and able to handle competing priorities

    • Builds strong, collaborative relationships with individuals across the company

    • Inclination to grow industry and business knowledge

    • Desire to learn new accounting systems

    • Working knowledge of SAP and/or BlackLine is a plus
