  • We are currently seeking a Senior HR Manager to join our Eastern Region office located in Charlotte, NC. This office supports 4500+ employees at 73 locations in Alabama, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.

    As the Senior Region HR Manager, you'll lead a team of Regional HR Professionals and provide counsel to leaders on complex employee relations matters. You will conduct or lead fact finding investigations and through a consultative approach you will problem solve, influence resolution, and mitigate risk. As part of the leadership team, you'll play a role in the strategic planning, leadership development and execution of initiatives that impact Waste Connections.

    Essential Duties:

    • Serving as a strategic partner to the region leadership in decisions impacting our most valuable resource - people.

    • Leading a Region HR team.

    • Participating in projects and planning that support employee development and success.

    • Collaborating with Region leadership, field managers and corporate HR to help resolve employee relations issues that arise throughout the employment life cycle. Specific focus on training front-line leaders on fundamental HR skills to reduce risk to the Company.

    • Assisting field leadership with integrating newly acquired companies/employees.

    • Analyzing data to help drive results (such as turnover data, internal/external market data) and makes recommendations to management based upon findings and best practices.

    • Understanding business strategy, financial drivers, and aligns HR plans to meet company goals.

    • Responding to internal and external inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and other people matters.

    • Embracing a Servant Leadership mindset

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have :

    • Ability to relocate to our Charlotte, NC office if necessary.

    • 15+years progressively responsible Employee Relations experience.

    • Deep experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field. A degree is required for this position.

    • Advanced knowledge of US employment laws.

    • Advanced knowledge of and hand's-on experience with employment issues in the Northeast US, especially in Massachusetts and New York

    • Strong influencing skills with proven success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization through collaboration and communication

    • Ability to travel up to 40% often without advance planning.

    • Ability to be confidential with sensitive information.

    • Interpersonal and organizational consulting, delivery, and facilitation skills.

    • Ability to remain professional in high stress situations.

    • Sound judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

    • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and projects.

    • PHR/SPHR (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
