    Become a Senior Manager, Major Construction Projects , at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be in the Major Projects and Engineering department of SCE's Generation organization that is responsible for executing a portfolio of major construction projects with a total capital expenditure of $100 million annually. You will be leading a team of project managers and support personnel responsible for approximately $50 million in annual construction projects supporting SCE's fleet of power generating assets. The Major Projects and Engineering team ensures that projects align with SCE's overall goals and are developed and implemented to meet scope, schedule, budget, and expenditure deliverables. Projects typically have high visibility with significant financial and operational impacts to the organization.

    A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

    • Directly supervise ~ 10 Major Construction Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, and Senior Specialists responsible for project management from inception through closeout. Provide functional direction to key project management support team leaders, including engineering project management, project cost and schedule staff, and construction management professionals.

    • Ensure appropriate resources are in place to optimally lead Major Projects and Engineering work to meet department and company goals and objectives.

    • Provide strategy, direction, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and salary administration for staff.

    • Participate in the development and execution of strategies and operational plans consistent with the direction from leadership.

    • Ensure cross-organizational execution of those strategies through effective project management and oversight.

    • Successfully influence project sponsors, design, and construction organizations to initiate and complete work, meeting annual financial budget and unit targets.

    • Routinely assess and report out on project and program performance. Lead an annual capital spend of approximately $50 million to within approved targets and spend strategy.

    • Successfully lead and meet all operational targets for work completed in support of Generation operational needs.

    • Resolve cross-organizational issues as needed and take actions to remove obstacles encountered by project managers in handling individual projects or programs.

    The essentials

    • Five or more years of experience managing/supervising an organization/unit.

    • Three or more years project management experience.

    The preferred

    • BA/BS in Business or technical field such as Engineering or Construction Management

    • Project Management Certification or Degree

    • Master's or advanced degree in business, engineering, construction management

    • Experience with construction or engineering within a utility industry

    • Experience providing strategy, direction, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and salary administration for staff

    • Experience developing and implementing strategies and operational plans

    • Experience ensuring teamwork including resolving cross functional issues and obstacles

    • Experience ensuring appropriate resources are in place to successfully manage work and to meet goals and objectives

    You should know

    • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

    • Position will require up to 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

    • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

    • Relocation does not apply to this position.
