Software Development Director - Data-Plane platform

Job Description

As a Director of Software Development, you will build and lead the Data-Plane Platform teams for OCI's Technical Strategy & Oversight Organization. The charter of the organization is to develop prescriptive guidelines, standard platform services, libraries and tools enable more efficient, reliable, and converged data-planes across OCI. You will build an organization which brings together low-level systems knowledge and data plane expertise and work with our most senior technical leaders to define, design and develop solutions to some of the most complex problems.

These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives such as providing canonical implementation of core components for data planes through a data-plane runtime framework, developing a remote persistent storage solution with the latency and performance comparable to that of a local nVME drive or developing standard and tooling to identify critical performance improvements across OCI data-planes.v

• Direct, lead and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.

• Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.

• Setting the technical direction for foundational data-plane components across OCI.

• Building high performing geographically distributed engineering teams.

• Coaching, mentoring, and developing best talent.

• Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the entire org

• Developing strategic plans to accomplish technical as well as business objectives with leadership chain, team, and customers.

• Defining new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.

• Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of management experience in enterprise software, with management of managers

• 7+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services/ systems design

• Proficient at programming in C/C++, Java, Python

• Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience

• Prior development experience with in Cloud Infrastructure or low level systems engineering

• Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

US: Hiring Range: from $120,300 to $291,900 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
