  • GENERAL PURPOSE

    The Strategic Initiatives Project Director in the Office of the EVP reports to the Chief of Staff for the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance and CFO and is responsible for leading complex initiatives that impact essential university functions and contribute to the goals of Administration and Finance (A&F) in support of the University's strategic plan., This includes changes to financial systems, decision support and analysis, policy changes, process improvements and other initiatives. Within the Office of the EVP, this position is accountable for the cross-functional leadership of initiatives, from feasibility analysis to planning, execution, delivery, communication and reporting.

    The Strategic Initiatives Project Director applies knowledge of policy and financial systems, practices and principles to preserve value in finance and administration processes, policies and systems.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develops and manages project deliverables to support the analysis, planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring for key initiatives in a broad range of topics, including operational, implementation, process improvement, policy and performance metrics, trends and analysis.

    • Manages and facilitates the effective partnership and engagement with senior-level sponsors, cross-functional stakeholders and team member to ensure their awareness, support and proactive risks management.

    • Applies consistent project management, improvement, and change management methodologies to initiatives.

    • Collaborates with the Office of the EVP staff to ensure the quality and consistency of communications and alignment with the Administration & Finance project portfolio.

    • Implements and manages a University-wide policy management process including standards, procedures, and technology to improve the accuracy of and user access to policies across divisions, and reduce administrative redundancy and obsolete or non-compliant policies.

    • Participates, presents or facilitates working groups, committees or leadership meetings as needed. Prepares communications, updates, reports, presentations, and meeting materials for senior leadership.

    • Provides regular status updates and periodic reviews on project progress and outcomes, and manages stakeholder expectations through a variety of communication vehicles.

    • Provides business process improvement, compliance support and mentorship to division leadership and staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting

    • A minimum of 10 years professional experience in financial systems

    • 10-15 years of management of financial organization

    • or a combination of education and experience

    • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, fund accounting, compliance protocols, and internal accounting controls financial systems implementation or configuration

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to build strong team-based relationships

    • Flexibility and problem-solving skills

    • Experience with university systems and policies: Workday Financials, Axiom, Anaplan, and/or other finance applications

    • Proficiency in MS Office suite and project collaboration applications

    Preferred:

    • MBA or MS degree in finance

    • Experience at Research I institution and/or academic medical center

    • Certified Public Accountant

    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Practitioner Certification

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $138,736 - $208,083 Annually

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
