    WSP is currently initiating a search for a Survey Project Manager for our Raleigh/Mooresville, NC office to support our Southeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting Land Surveying work, including but not limited to utilizing Microstation, AutoDesk Civil 3D, and ORD (Open Roads Design) to generate final cad deliverables, as well as performing records research, surveying data processing and final QA/QC of deliverables.     Takes part in providing survey support on projects to ensure construction compliance with plans, photogrammetric work, measurements, boundaries, calculations, and codified requirements for public and private sector client projects. Tasks may include performing land surveys on various assigned projects of basic to moderate scale and/or complexity, which may include visually mapping/drafting legal boundaries and the potential placement of structures, utilities, and installations. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, uniformity, thoroughness, and legal compliance for survey documents. This role will also include overseeing field data collection by field staff members, processing survey data, managing project budgets, managing project deliverables and managing project schedules.

    Your Impact

    • Assist with collecting, compiling, researching, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.

    • Provides routine professional survey assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.

    • Assist with surveyor activities for projects of a moderate scope and complexity within a district.

    • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to site inspection and survey findings using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports.

    • Complete training on assigned tasks.

    • Work collaboratively with other professionals, engineers, scientists, project control, and technicians on assigned survey tasks.

    • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.

    • Provide Training and Mentorship to staff on the "best practices" of and training on up-to-date methodology.

    • Exhibit basic knowledge of current land surveyor practices and remain current in the latest survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.

    • Provide oversight of any required subconsultants required for survey services, such as quality control and contract negotiations.

    • Oversee the management, planning, scheduling, QA/QC and oversight of multiple Survey crews and projects for both internal WSP projects, as well as our external clientele.

    • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

    • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

    • Help Administer Contracts and Proposals.

    • Oversee project field data collection by WSP field staff.

    • Manage field staff to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.

    • QA/QC final deliverable products on topographic, boundary, ALTA, bathymetric and construction surveys.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma.

    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior surveying experience with easements, rights of way, plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, property descriptions, and GPS surveys.

    • Valid state driver's license.

    • Experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development).

    • Highly familiar with land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.

    • Highly familiar with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

    • Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.

    • Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

    • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

    • Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

    • Basic proficiency with survey equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station, Leica GPS, Leica Infinity (Data Processing Software)), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Geopak.

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from calculations, data collation, and survey results to arrive at the most effective and logical solution.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

    • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate's Degree in Geomatics.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Geomatics.

    • North Carolina Professional Land Surveying license, or the ability to obtain this license within 1 year of hire.

    • South Carolina Professional Land Surveying License, or the ability to obtain this license within 1 year of hire.
